“When can I go Back ?”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 October 2011

Where do you start with this one ? Oh Yes, I know ! When can I go back ? I have worked in the Hospitality Industry for over 10 years, and it is not often that you will find a place where you can forget about the time, and feel like you have been transported back in time ! I have now been there over 7 times, and it is great for many reasons. 1) you can go alone and enjoy a cup of coffee or tea with a fresh sandwich or croissant. 2) spend the romantic afternoon with your partner or spouse, or 3) use it as an opportunity to meet business clients ! The owner is Marianna, who is very delightful and attentive, and who could not have picked a better location in Punta Carretas, which is very near to the Shopping Centre on Solano Garcia.

I can assure you that this is a Must, while in Montevideo - and as a entrepreneur, I can highly recommend Philomene Cafe as the Place to BE in Punta Carretas ! I have attached a picture to give you an idea of how comfortable and cozy this little diamond is. Have a great time :)

“a chic slice of Europe with an authentically local twist”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 July 2011

It has been a while since I last went but have been for lunch twice and thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of it. The menu is full of healthy options; it's fresh and seasonal yet hearty. The service was attentive and helpful and there was a good selection of local press and magazines to peruse at my leisure whilst I waited for my food. I had an illy espresso and it was well prepared with a thick "crema" layer on the top. Finally, the décor is elegant yet relaxed and the mismatched anitque crockery is a nice touch.
