We had dinner at Maido on 23rd May. The welcome was warm and personal. We were sat down at our table promptly and introductions by our waiter was a lovely touch. The menu options were explained and we chose the degustation menu with matching beer/wine.
The dining room was tastefully decorated - classy yet relaxed. Our waiter helped us with our group photographs - thanks!!
The food was artfully presented and above all, tasted fantastic. There was no doubt we were having Japanese-Peruvian fusion. Dishes used local ingredients of ultra-premium quality. We especially enjoyed nigiri sushi with toro & quails egg, and the black cod. Our least favourite course was the green dumpling. But overall food was sensational.
The matched alcoholic drinks were also well thought out and explained by our sommelier. We had some novel and unusual wines/ grape varieties too which was fun. I like the addition of local craft beers to the tasting.
Well done!! Close to perfect and a fantastic memory.
