The exterior promises a quaint, pleasant and comfortable stay. It boasts three starts proudly displayed above the door, but those must have been awarded a long time ago.
The bones of this hotel are excellent. Beautiful Spanish colonial style, nice court yard inside, big common rooms and a lovely common terrace facing the street.
Unfortunately, it has been badly neglected. The rooms smell of mold (we tried two different ones), the lights are bare florescent bulbs, blankets and sheets are thin and towels are thread bare. The bathrooms are covered in mold, not just the showers but the whole room and the shower doors no longer work. The shower heads were corroded and moldy.
The ladies at the front desk were nice enough, but not overly inviting and speak little english.
The WiFi was spotty, my husband never got on. The lobby was the best spot.
Breakfast was the best part of this experience. A nice spread of fruit, breads, cheeses and ham. The coffee was drinkable, but not great - stick to the juice.
They held our luggage while we toured the city before our plane, but the room the luggage was stored in was not locked. Luckily nothing bad happened, but it was unnerving.
With some investment this could be a great place.. The location is wonderful.More
