It was 3 of us, we had Choritos a la Chalaca, Ceviche Mixto, Sea Bass with Garlic Sauce and Seafood Risotto......just perfect!
Javier the owner was there and he came to our table to check on us and give us some suggestions. The staff very friendly and professional. In a city known for its food, El Villano will be around for a long time.

Wife and I walked here from 3B's B&B in Barranco. The walk was a little on the longer side, but we knew that going in to it.

You definitely feel yourself getting out of the tourism bubble on your way here. Out of nowhere, there's this little street with what appears to be three restaurants, El Villano being one of them. We entered and were seated. We were the only tourists in there with a lot of locals on long business lunches. The atmosphere is really cool, minimalist and very open.

We chatted with the waitress and opted for (2) ceviches and a seafood cake concoction, all from the appetizer menu. We were sufficiently full by the end. It served as a fantastic light lunch.

For those new to Peruvian ceviche, it is very tart. Lots of lime and it hits you hard. I really enjoyed it, and from my experience this is top notch ceviche.

The owner of the restaurant greeted us when we walked in and gave us a warm goodbye. It wasn't until we read more later that we realized it was the owner.

Overall, a great experience. For the price, I feel like we hit the jackpot. I was obsessively checkign ratings and pricing afterwards, and it looks like we were pointed in the right direction on this one.

Would certainly visit again. I supposed I'd get a heartier dish to round out the ceviche appetizer route.

You can enjoy peruvian food here in "El Villano". Javier (the owner) or "Yuco" as we know him, is very friendly and he will give some advice before you order. I tried everything in the menu, any complains, the food and service is excellent. Don't forget to try the "Pisco Sour and Maracuya Sour" a must, too.

We met for lunch with a group of 8; had fun were well served and enjoyed multiples dishes. I want to highlight the service... Servers paid attention to any detail and appeared that there were several serving our table. That is really good, as it also gives you a chance to perhaps order something else. Good selection of beers; there is a Dark Laguer from a brand called Cuzquena, but it's really NOT a Dark Laguer, it's a sweet tasting wheat protein drink with alcohol. A couple of beers you will definitely enjoy are the Pilsen Callao (Pilsener) and the Cuzquena Trigo (unfiltered) Dishes that are worth noting: Ceviche de Conchas Negras (season availability -we were lucky), Ceviche de Erizo, Tacu Tacu de Camarones, Arroz de Conchas Negras, Chupe de Camarones... The owner is very friendly and usually present to insure quality of service. We have been there twice and he even encourages you creating a new dish; very entertaining. Will return when able. Do keep in mind that a taxi cab must know how to get there, so get a service such as TAXI SATELITAL (call via App or 355 5555) moderately priced, but guaranteed to take you there. The streets in the area are directed in a confusing manner so driving can be a bit of a headache.

We came across this restaurant on TripAdvisor during our stay in Lima. We had planned on walking around Barranco in the afternoon and just searched for restaurants in that neighborhood thinking it couldn't be far from the shops since Barranco isn't very big. I noticed previous reviews mentioned the neighborhood wasn't great but I decided to overlook that and figured it would only be a few blocks or so that may have been a little questionable. When we got to the restaurant I think everyone was shocked to see two American tourists walk in. Luckily one of the waitresses spoke English and was a great help. She made some great menu suggestions. The food was great. We had ceviche and shrimp and rice. She informed us that we should definitely not walk in the neighborhood and called a cab for us.
