“Would stay here again for sure.”
Reviewed 28 July 2011

Booked total of 4 nights here in April, stayed 3 consecutive nights, left for 3 night Inca Trail trek, and back 1 night before leaving.

Like many arriving from US and straight onto Cusco we arrived into Lima late and chose to stay at the airport overnight before leaving for Cusco early in the morning. Upon arriving in Cusco the hotel had 2 people there to pick us up just outside the airport (Had Hotel ruinas sign on them, not hard to find). Our room wasen't quite ready, and completely understandable because it's only 8AM or so right now, so we sat in the lobby and they brought us Coca tea. bout an hour later our room was ready and we got exactly what we wanted. Our room had 3 double beds, 2 flat screen televisions, Full bathroom with shower, safe, and small refrigerator. Free Wifi provided throughout the Hotel. I think we paid around $120 / night, good deal split 3 ways.

Room was clean, very safe and secure (they lock the main door at night so if coming back late you have to ring a bell outside to get in a different entrance). It's about 2 block to the main plaza in a nice neighborhood. There are a few shops and restaurants just outside the door but you've got everything you need in a 3-4 minute walk to the main plaza. This is nice, makes the place quiet at night, no loud bars or traffic noise at all.

In checking out before our hike they held our bags and when we got back the room was ready to go again.

Something interesting, no credit card ever needed to reserve the room. We diden't pay even when we checked out for our hike, they just said to 'pay whenever', so we waited until after our hike and stayed our last night, paid in the morning, no problems with the bill, they called us a cab to the airport (10 Nuevo Soles ~$4) and off we went.

Their English is not great, but enough to get by just fine.

Overall great experience, can't think of one problem. I'm sure there are more Luxurious options available in Cusco, but I'm used to staying at Marriott properties traditionally and had no problems at all with this place. Keep up the good work guys!

My husband and I stayed at Hotel Ruinas before and after our Macchu Piccu trek (they happily stored our luggage for us while we were away). We found Hotel Ruinas to be great. It was in a very handy location, close to the main square, the staff were lovely, and our room was comfortable and clean. We requested a room at the back of the hotel as was suggested on this site, and it was really good. We really found the staff to be very friendly and helpful - they answered any questions we had and helped us any way they could. The care that they take of the hotel is to be commended as well. A very welcoming little place.

Due to some of the turmoil going on around Puno we were forced to skip Puno and Lake Titicaca and rework our itinerary. We decided to spend extra days in Cusco. Originally we were going to be there for two nights but extended our stay to four nights. The rooms were quite comfortable and the staff were very helpful. The breakfast was good with great variety. The location is great, a five minute walk from the square and a short distance from the San Blas neighborhood. There are many excellent places to eat nearby including one directly across the street that serves an excellent cuy. About the only thing I could ding the property for is the meager water pressure. It made taking a shower a challenge. Other than that one little thing this property is an excellent choice for a few days stay.

I like this hotel very much because it doesn't pretend to be something it isn't. It is a solid three-star hotel - nothing fancy but everything worked. If you want a double bed instead of twins, be sure to make that clear when you make reservations. We are married with different last names and we ended up with twin beds so I think they didn't know what our relationship was and just decided to give us twin beds to be on the safe side. All the staff were very helpful. Checkout is very early - 9:00 a.m. - but we asked for a late checkout since we got to the hotel at 8:30 the night before and they were very accommodating and didn't charge us for staying until 11:00, although we ended up leaving at 9:30. Breakfast was on par with the breakfast at Andean Wings, which is a four-star hotel. We were confused about the coffee because there is Nescafe on the table but they actually did have real coffee in an urn next to it. I guess some people must prefer Nescafe. One thing to be aware of is they don't provide bottled water in the hotel and I didn't see that they sold it in the hotel (although I could be wrong about that) so be sure to have some with you if you check in late when stores are closed.

The best thing about this hotel is the location near the San Blas neighborhood. There is an excellent restaurant and wine bar, Baco, across the street that we had no problem getting into at 9:00 pm on a Thursday night without reservations and the San Blas neighborhood a few blocks away was wonderful and not as touristy as other parts of Cusco. We just loved it. If we return to Cusco we would stay in this neighborhood again, and the Hotel Ruinas could very well be our choice of hotel next time.

Dear Guest.
We appreciate your feedback, we are pleased to have felt comfortable in the hotel.
We feel sorry for not having given a double bed, you will had applied to your income.
Our location is really very good, accessible to many interesting places.
Breakfast is varied and natural, and as you say, we make available the nescafe, but in turn also the natural coffee, brought from our valleys.
Thanks again, and hope for a next time, best regards and good look.
