We stayed at Novotel both before and after our trip to Machu Pichu. We picked the hotel as the price was super-reasonable (we booked 4mos in advance) and wanted a location near the main sights of Cusco. With its proximity to the Plaza de Armas and Coricancha, we knew this is where we wanted to be. Also, we came during the Easter Holy Week, so were able to enjoy the processions and parades w/in the Plaza de Armas.

Note that there are two 'wings' to the hotel. There's the original structure from, say, the 1800's, and a newer, more generic wing. I'd recommend the original structure which appears to be the original owners residence. Within this wing, you'll find better views of the streets, quaint rooms with shuttered windows, hardwood floors, and doors overlooking the main terrazzo. The 'other' wing is what you'd expect with most new construction hotels. Nothing necessarily 'special'.

We dined here on the first night. Service wasn't great at all, so I had reservations when my meal arrived. However, the aji de gallina was fantastic. Okay, it was the first time I'd had the dish, but I was hooked! After that meal, I tried aji de gallina several more times and nothing compared to the quality of the dish at Novotel.

Room tip: Stay in the historical, original building if you want something unique...

I stayed here for two nights and unfortunately the mattress was quite stiff so this made it difficult for me to get my rest.

Otherwise the hotel is nicely located in the center, friendly staff and roomservice is pretty decent. Breakfast starts quite early which is good for those doing early morning expeditions.

The room doesn’t feel too new and ultimately I think the mattress is important. Others might not have the same issue, so that’s why I ended up with a 4* and not a 3*.

Stay here after 40 hours of long flights from Asia. Price is reasonable, service in Reception and other area are very good. Breakfast is good but don’t expect to have an egg station , seems not a popular thing in Cusco.

Everywhere is a walking distance from Novotel, reasonably convenience. WiFi don’t work in the room nor in the common area. See the signal but not really connected.

Place is clean and the lobby is relaxing

Spent two nights on our way back from Machu Picchu. Besides the main building's internal patio, the rest of the infrastructure is Novotel standard, that is, functional with no luxuries. Rooms have heating system but no cooling so be ready to sleep with open windows if you need lower temperatures to sleep well. Hotel is clean, beds are comfy and breakfast satisfying. Customer service seemed to be a bit below local standards. We had late evening flights back to the US and asked for a late checkout or at least to have access to a room for some refreshing before leaving. We knew our request may have required some effort on their part but the response was just a "there is nothing we can do". We expected a bit more effort or at least some empathy.

It's good place to relax and close to downtown and anywhere of famous place in Cusco, Peru. The room rate is moderate comparing to other city and very kind people in front desk to arrange city tour and taxi.
