J picked us up at Sacred Valley and took us to the Train Station the ride to the start of hike. He's the Best! very informative and kind. he did hike the first day to the sungate and slept one night in Aqua Caliente and he took us to dinner:). I was with my wife and two teenage boys. J woke up earlier than we did and got in line at 4am while we ate breakfast at hotel. We got to MP by 7am and had a great time.
I highly recommend J and this tour company! We went last August (2017).

A friend of mine and myself did the 4 day Salkantay Trail from Cuzco to Macchu Picchu in July 2017 – with Carlos, plus a cook and sherpa. It was an unforgettable experience.

First, you DON'T need to do the more famous Inca Trek, which we missed because of the limited quotas. Salkantay Trek has much much better nature sites and scenery than Inca Trek, and much less fellow humans, which adds to the genuine experience of the Andes. The Inca Trek supposedly has some archaeology findings, but these we had more than sufficient amount of at MP and in the Sacred Valley. On the hiking trek one should focus on the fantastic Andes, and Salkantay offers exactly that – it should be listed as plan A in the guidebooks.

Second, instead of a group, the two of us ended up on an unplanned "VIP" tour with Carlos, since the rest of the fellow hikers were delayed and cancelled. If possible, do the hike in as small of a group as possible. It adds to enjoying the sights & sounds and, most importantly – you can have the guide Carlos all for yourself:)

Third, make sure you indeed get Carlos – he is awesome! A self-taught philosopher and Inca connoisseur, with unique character combining stories real and legendary (of Incas as well as of Carlitos' ways and life lessons). Such a treat!

Fourth, make sure you do the 4 day trek, and not shorter. You need four days to have time to hike up to 4600 meters, to soak up all the Carlitos's stories, and to gradually build up the expectations of the imminent arrival to Macchu Picchu. Once at MP, make sure you're up there at the entrance at 6am. This is where Carlitos experience was key – instead of going left to Caretaker's House, which is direction everyone takes and Lonely Planet recommends, he took us right – and we were blessed with having the MP early in the morning at sunrise only for ourselves. Fantastic experience… And, don't forget to, towards the end, go to the Sun Gate, to have the zoom-out panorama view of the Incas' masterpiece.

Enjoy!

We did an amazing trek of 4 days to Machu Picchu.
Our guide, cook and horseman took very good care of us.

The trip started at the bottem of the Mountain . The First Day we walked for 5 heures and saw different landscapes and a inka bilding. When we arrived at camp side the cook had a luxurieus theetime and After that amazing diner. The horseman Made sure that our tent and toilet was ready When we arrived.
The Second Day we walked for 7 heures. At 4700 m high we feeld like the kings of the World. Just before we arrived at camp, we saw the sungate.
The 3 Day we walked down Hill to the trainstation. Evidence of the inkas was showen to us.
Every breakfast, lunch and diner there was plenty of delicieus food. Even a cake the last Morning speciale prepared for us.

Our guide explained a lot to us about the ways of the Andes People. He was very friendly and interested in the World. We had lots of good conversations.

We would like to thank the Inti trek company for this trip. The memories for a life time.

Honestly one of the best and most rewarding trips we've had the pleasure of doing! Although at times the trek was challenging (reaching the 1st pass mainly) it was completely worth it, the views, the Inca sites and the company! Our guide Carlos was amazing! His knowledge was second to none and he had a great sense of humour. Would also like to thank our chef Fernando and all of the porters, we ate like Kings at every meal time, and were offered a huge array of traditional Peruvian dishes.
Excellent company throughout and a truly unforgettable experience!
