Met friends at El Arriero after the Covid restrictions were lifted. What a delightful surprise. This restaurant is a secret of the local Ecuadorians off of the regular beaten path, and no wonder. Our friends and I ordered the Sirloin Steaks with llapangachos (potatoe pancakes) and they were delicious - tender and juicy and cooked exactly to order. If you have lived in Cuenca for any time at all, you know how rare it is to find a good steak. Betty had the Mixto, an assortment of grilled chicken, chorizo and beef. Also excellent. We would highly recommend El Arriero.
