Half refinished and it is incredible! If you are a church goer it is rightup there with someof the nicest active churches in the world. If you have time ask someone to tell you the story of it being built.

Quito is a city of churches, built by the Spanish when they weren’t killing, looting and spreading disease
As soon as one steps inside the grandeur of this 15th century edifice is obvious. It is a large structure with numerous altars. Every inch of the walls and ceilings are covered with gold leaf or paintings.
If you see only one church in this country, this ought to be the one!

I have been coming to La Compañía since I was a kid and it never stops amazing me!!!

The best way to see it is entering and contemplating it from the there and the sitting a while to get the sense of this amazing space while feeling the silence of a church as such. Enjoy!

We visited this church since they had English speaking tours. Incredibly beautiful. The tour was very informative. The gold covered sanctuary is a sight to behold. Ecuador is still a very Catholic country and tell they are justly proud of their churches. A must see if you are in the Old City.

Very ornate and beautiful - more of an art piece than a church! Amazing craftsmanship A Jesuit church built in the 15th century and situated right in the centre of Quito. Definitely a must when in Quito.
