Owner description: This Jesuit church is a masterpiece of baroque and Quiteno-colonial art with lavish golden altars and gilded columns, making it one of the most ornate structures in Ecuador.

One of Quito' s oldest. It's construction took more than 100 hundred years. Owned by the Jesuit order. The altar leaves yor breathless!

This church tops some other magnificent churches in the area hands down. Sadly (or not), no photography is allowed in the church. You will just have to see it yourself!

Elaborate gold-plated decor is a signature feature of Columbian churches in Latin America, and this church has the most in Quito. Historically and artistically very interesting.

In the sachristy, you can also see paintings by indigenous artists (who were not allowed to sign their names to their work) - a moving sight.

This Church is part of La Plaza Grande and a must see. I have never seen so much gold in one place. The church is very beautiful and open for regular services. I would like to learn more about its history and the history of the Ecuadorian people.

This march I decided to visit La Compania de Jesus church in Quito downtown. Once inside, I was amazed every altarpiece was covered with gold leaf... ! Incredible decoration from the 17th century. You must go there!
