Owner description: Founded in 1856, Cousino Macul is the only winery in Chile amongst those established in the 19th century that continues in the hands of the original founding family. The company remains 100% under family control, producing limited quantities of fine wines. The mission of Cousino Macul is to produce world-class wines that are unmistakably Chilean, carrying the distinctive character of the Maipo Valley.

With sommelier Giovanni Montero.

Educational tour of what is left of the local Santiago vineyards, and the Historic Heritage site where they have been wine making for 150 odd years. Most of the production area is now mostly a museum, but some wine making remains.

This was followed by a six wine / six cheese pairing with our sommelier, which was a good introduction to what to look for when doing pairings. This was the premium package. And worth the extra $$$.

Mari was such a great guide. She taught us so much about the winemaking process and about Cousino Macul specifically. Would definitely recommend a bike tour with her!

We went on the regular tour at Cousino Macul which included a tour of the vineyard, the old wine presses and cellars. The guide, Giovanni Monteno, was very knowledgeable and fun! Well worth a visit. At the end of the tour you got to taste 4 wines produced by Cousino Macul.

Our tour guide for the day dropped us off here, and we were taken on a group guided tour by one of the winery guides. There was lots of variety on this tour - a look at the vines growing nearby, a tour of the cellars and a wine tasting. It was really interesting. We took this tour right at the beginning of a 3 week trip, and if we had known that we would get to keep our wine glasses, I would have organised to do it at the end. So unfortunately we had to give our wine glass souvenirs away as we couldn't take them all around Chile & Argentina for 3 weeks. I blame our travel agent for not informing us of this gift. The winery tour was great.

What a wonderful choice which came from a recommendation from a top wine seller in Puerto Natales. Mary our guide spoke excellent English and was very knowledgable in the right way. The tour lasted 3 hours and we went by Bike which is by far the best way to go.
