This is a cheap hotel. The rooms are small; there is no elevator.
So simply, it's not for everyone.

However!
It's easy to get to; close to MRT. It's in an interesting part of town; there's fantastic food nearby (head to the markets for a cheap local breakfast!).
It has a great little attitude to the place - on old fashioned historic feel that feels cosy and homely.
Most important of all; the service we had from everyone we talked to (3 people on the front desk) was uniformly superb! We had an issue with the airline when we flew in; and the staff at the hotel went out of their way to follow up with the airline for us while we were sleeping. After an update in the morning; they continued to follow up while we were out exploring the city; and then passed the information on to us when we returned in the evening. This kind of service seems so rare these days: I just wouldn't have even considered asking for the help that these guys offered.

So if you're wanting to find a place to "find the real Singapore", that isn't too expensive; and you're fit enough to carry your own bags upstairs - this is the place for you.

A small hotel in the heart of Chinatown with easy access to the Metro System and close to Downtown and the Bay area. Room basic but clean. Staff friendly and helpful, but rooms noisy I.e.noise form within the hotel, not outside.

Room Tip: Not the one next door to the man using a drill at 11.00pm!

This shop-house mid-budget hotel is beautifully decorated with traditional Chinese motives starting from the lobby & Reception area, along the staircases and into guest rooms. It's strategically located in the heart of Chinatown, surrounded by many mouth watering Chinese & local restaurants/ cafes/ food courts. It's simply convenient as very near to the train/ MRT stations & bus stops.
I was given a complimentary upgraded from Standard Single to Standard Double room. The room is not that spacious but it's enough for 1 or 2 persons. All basic amenities & toiletries are provided. The air-conditioning is perfectly cooling. Their big rain-forest shower head is truly fantastic to wash away all your tiredness after strolling around & shopping the entire day. Huge windows in the room which allow plenty of sunlight into the room & provide a fabulous view of the bustling Chinatown.
The only negative comment is their cubicle shower area is slightly space-constraint, and thus will be troublesome for big or plus sized guests to do the bathing motion.
Overall this hotel is superb for vacationers who expect a clean & comfy room with a simply good-taste interior deco, reasonable prices, and central location in Chinatown, and it's very near to popular shopping malls, pubs & sightseeing places.

Room Tip: Try to request a room with windows if you book for a basic Standard Single room.
