“Great Stay In Centre Of Singapore”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 May 2012

Stayed three nights at the RP. At check-in we asked if we could negotiate a late check-out as our flight out wasn't until 8.30pm. Got it straight away for free - good start.
We booked a Club Deluxe package, which included breakfast, afternoon tea and evening cocktails in a private lounge on the 15th floor.
Not cheap, but was pretty good value for money with a wide selection of food and drinks and excellent service.
The on-site gym was a bit of a disappointment. Decent equipment, but not enough of it and in a very cramped area. Pool was OK though.
Overall .. very good.

Room Tip: If you can run to it, get a Club Deluxe deal.

I have no complain about this hotel. Everything is just what you expected from a 5 star :

- the check in was smooth
- the luggage were promptly sent to the room
- the room is of a good size (we were upgraded to a premier room which was a corner room - so
I think the receptionist told me the size is bigger than the normal deluxe that we paid for. I think they upgraded us as we pre-book our extra bed, so if you need extra bed, my advise always pre-book)
- the king bed was huge and the extra bed was readily made up. IThe extra bed is a roll bed, but well made up and my daughter said its very comfortable. The king bed was very big, it fit me and my husband and our 5 year old son comfortably. So, there is no squeezing for space when its time to sleep
- the bathroom was perfect, there is a shower and a bath tub. i just love good shower, so i thought the shower was just perfect. there is a window with pull down blind at the bath tub so you can see you children from the room when they are having fun in the tub.
- our room has the pool view but actually you cant really see the pool. we went down to see the pool, they are really for adults and not for kids

- there is a halal mcdonald 2 minutes down the pavement. we didnt have breakfast included in our room rate, so we just had breakfast at the mcdonald, which is really convenient and cheap.

We would love to have breakfast at the hotel, but the buffet breakfast at the hotel would cost us about SGD30 each, maybe some discount for the kids, but we thought it would still be too expensive for the kids. I mean how much do the kids eat ? I always thought that hotels should not charge kids less than 12 when the parents are paying, simply because most kids of this age eat really little. I dont think we are alone when it comes to foregoing hotel buffet breakfast because we have to pay huge sum of money for our kids who hardly eat. I always wonder why hotels could not be a bit more generous to the kids and let them eat free with paying parents, because that would encourage parents to eat there. I mean, they have a lot of food anyway which end up not eaten.

The only setback about this hotel is it is not very close to the MRT. I thought its a really short walk, but really no and you have to cross the road to get to the Orchard MRT station. So if you have luggage with the kids, I will not advise you to plan to use MRT. We always took the cab because for the 4 of us, we just pay slightly more than it would have cost 4 of us to take MRT. It is also very tiring to take the MRT with the kids especially with the hot weather. There is a little bit of walk to do and it can be very tiring for the kids. Also, dont be surprise that all those seats meant for older people and parents with kids are conveniently taken up by very young able singaporeans who would just look at you and your kids as if you are invisible. They are generally short rides, but my 5 year old son would cling to me in the middle of packed older people, I thought it would be nice if only they offer at least my son the seat.

I got the room as a surprised birthday vacation for my partner during December. The hotel is fancifully decorated and you thought you entered Alice in wonderland. Checking in took a bit of time but the staff were nice enough to give me a complimentary upgrade.

The room is classy overlooking the swimming pool and the gym. And the gym is really quiet, you hardly notice anyone using the gym at all.

They have a wide spread for breakfast, ranging from local delicacies to salads, pastries and fruit juices.

Room Tip: try to come earlier for the check in, checking in can really take some time.

This was our second trip to Singapore and the first time we stayed at Royal Scotts on Plaza. Hotel rooms in Singapore can be quite small and as we were there 10 days in Singapore, we wanted a bit of “leg room”. Taking advantage of a free upgrade to an Executive Suite turned out to be a great deal for us.

The hotel is minutes walk to the ION and Orchard Road. The entrance to the hotel on Scotts Road is a little perilous if arriving on foot as pedestrian access is secondary to vehicles. We arrived just before midnight and from the moment we alighted from the cab, we were treated to the “what can we do for you” experience. Check in was efficient and the executive club options listed on the wallet card with the room key was a useful addition.

Our one bedroom suite had a large lounge and study area, free mini bar and internet and Nespresso machine. A large bowl with fresh fruit was a lovely addition, along with a sample of chocolates from the restaurant. The bed was huge, with plenty of pillows. While the view was over the adjacent car park, the thick double curtains shut this and the sun out, to allow for uninterrupted sleep. The room was an oasis of quiet and cool after long days of sightseeing.
Breakfast was included in our room rate and we had the option of dining in the restaurant (Carousel) or in the Lounge.

I thoroughly recommend Carousel for breakfast – the variety and quality of food was impressive. From noodles and curries to more European dishes, even the fussiest palate would be satisfied. The staff are very attentive without being intrusive. We found that following a full breakfast, lunch was rarely required.

The Executive Club served drink and canapés each evening. Again the service was efficient and friendly. Staff inquired about our day and offered unique travel tips. Sitting in the comfortable club chairs, sipping a Singapore sling and watching evening creep over the skyline is a fabulous way to end the day.

Room Tip: The upgrade to an executive suite is well worth the investment.

With my wife it was our first travel into Asia.
I've searched a long time on the internet before booking a "club" room.
We didn't regrett it.
After a 12 hrs flight from Germany, we were really pleased to be placed in the "club" area, with a great breakfeast, and we had an access to our room.
Service was perfect, great staff.
Quality of food : excellent.
Situation of the hotel : next to orchard road, so again perfect for the shopping.
Nice room, great bathroom, all inclusive minibar, access to the pool.
This was the first destination of a 3 weeks grand tour, that we made in South-Eastern Asia : perfect!
