“One of my favorite hotels in Singapore... Superb service!”
Reviewed 30 August 2012

I love the location, the rooms and the excellent service of this hotel.

My husband and I are frequent travelers and stay here often. The hotel has a special facility for regular guests.... Since they have your details in the system, you are automatically checked in... As you step out of your car, the bell boys hand you your key and take you straight up to your room, without the need to check in at the front desk... How thoughtful!

The rooms are delightful..very spacious, with enough lighting (I just don't get why most hotels rooms have poor lighting), extremely comfy bed and a ginormous bathroom (i especially love the two sinks). The shower has great water pressure (yes it matters!). Free wifi, the oh-so-comfy bedroom slippers, the nice toiletries and the plentiful supply of bottled water are all great touches.

If you're here on leisure, the Orchard road shopping area and plenty of nice eating joints are just a short walk away.

I am a frequent 5-star hotel road warrior in Asia, and the biggest thing that makes me uncomfortable in most of the hotels is the gaudy, overdone attempts at delivering "luxury". (you could argue Asian aesthetics and service expectations are different for cultural reasons, but I still dont like western chains compromising what their brands are about). Four seasons manages to balance their adaptation lo local taste without compromising their signture feel and brand.
Their rooms are very well appointed with contemporary European décor and fixtures that are relaxing, easy on the eyes, and a breath of fresh air in an otherwise 5-star hotel world full of faux-cristal chandeliers, ornate gold bezeled mirrors, and floor to ceiling patterned headboards. The moment I walked in, I felt someone had actually taken the trouble to make the place feel elegant and livable rather than going for the “wow” factor. Toiletries, towels and bedding were all excellent. Sofitel chain: your hotels in asia should look like this.
I liked the mix of old-school touches, but also including the modern amentities we expect in this day and age (free wireless, ipod dock, great room sound system, etc). Old school = bidet in bathroom, tub with basket, magnetic keys that are shaped like real metal keys (clever), and my favorite: the ice machine closet down the hall. Nothing is more nostalgic-romantic than strolling down the hallway with your wine bucket for some ice so the misses can fart and touch up in the bathroom while you’re gone.
The fitness center is excellent (sauna, steam room, well equipped gym, etc). but weight room is too tightly packed, and massage prices are not competitive. Also, whats the deal with the “massages for kids” advertised on the spa catalog in every room? – I don’t appreciate the hotel trying to sell these 200 dollar massages and skin cleansing facials and salon services to 12 year kids. Whats next, offering them bikini waxes and make-up? If wealthy parents specifically request it, fine, but don’t try to market it the way you do.
I booked a non-smoking room and received a smoking room because “the hotel is 100% fully booked” (that’s always suspicious as an excuse). It would be much appreciated if Four seasons could separate their room types by smoking and non-smoking. I understand in Asia its not as big a deal, but as a western chain, if its unacceptable to pay 300+ dollars for a room that stinks of smoke in your New York hotels, I expect you to keep the same standards in your Singapore hotel. If you didn’t have any non-smoking rooms left, then your online booking done through your own website should warn me beforehand. Hotel switched me to a non-smoking hotel after first night.

Food: did not try the restaurant. had the breakfast buffet once. Good but nothing to write about.

Location: excellent, close to Orchard shopping area, yet isolated enough from the rumble to keep it peaceful.

Other: Even though this hotel is more than 15 years old, it was very well kept and very clean. Nothing looked broken or faded, so maintenance must be quite good. Like a fine cheese, this hotel is aging well.

Photos: hmmm, the professional photos show mostly the fancy suites and pool area decorated for special events. Check out user submitted photos for more realistic expectations.

3 nights. The hotel is good, service very good from most of the staff.Rooms - good size and bathrm with separate shower, air con is quiet, bed is comfy. Housekeeping seem to be doing a good job. However windows need a clean. Coffee Shop staff really make effort to address guests by name. The b/fast spread is very good. 2 swimming pools in the hotel which is nice. We preferred the one on 3/f to do laps. The gym is average size, ticks all the boxes for equipment and it has windows! The BIG problem I had though was the amount of plastic bottles this hotel must use. OK the guests feel more comfortable with bottled water... but surely they could use glass bottles in the room or a water fountain option next to the ice machine maybe.

Room Tip: High floor. tennis court side does not have any outside construction noise

The Four Seasons is about ten years past due for a refresh. It's tired and there's nothing special about it compared with either its Four Seasons siblings or other hotels in the same bracket in Singapore.

No executive lounge, rips in the fabric, dusty cobwebs in the bedroom, clanking metal frame on the bed, old bathroom fittings...I love Four Seasons hotels, but this is one to skip.

While we may not be able to make immediate significant changes due to various reasons however will continue to upkeep its cleanliness and maintenance in all areas while retaining the classic style of the brand.

Great location (3 minutes walk to Orchard road), very spacious room, excellent service, even the concierge staff was addressing us by our first names by the 2nd day, secluded (great privacy) and extremely comfortable beddings rivaled so far as far as I am concerned by the Ritz. The only downside is the pool areas (both on 3rd floor and on the roof top) are a bit dated and could do with a new look (but spotless clean).
