“Home of the Laser Skirmish”

Interesting tour to do for the Fort itself and if you have young boys the laser skirmish inside the Fort itself is great.

“Singapore April 2012”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 April 2012

What a wonderful piece of important history. The day we went there (just behind our hotel) it was a very, very humid and hot day but once we went into the tunnels and rooms, which had either fans or airconditioning, we found it easier going. The history of Singapore and World War II was comprehensive and extremely interesting. I would highly recommend a visit to Fort Siloso.

“Good view of history”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 April 2012

On a hot day it can be a bit punishing to visit Fort Siloso. Unfortunately, it's always a hot day in Singapore. The combination of glacial air conditioning inside each building, and blazing, muggy heat outside each building, along with the steep hills and everpresent insects, can make this quite a challenging place to visit. Further, there are various exhibits with soundtracks that are on a constant loop - that wouldn't be so bad if they were a few minutes long, but there's a thirty second loop of an English sergeant major barking at his men that can get tiring very quickly.

Having got the negatives out the way, there's a lot to like about the Fort. There are nice views of Singapore, there is a lot of interesting (although sometimes depressing) historical detail and there are some vaguely terrifying wax works depicting various Japanese and Allied generals surrendering to one another at different times in the last century. Staff are friendly and helpful, although I wouldn't recommend this for young children (too many steps and steep slopes) unless they really, really like artillery.

“Singapore History”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 April 2012

For history buffs, this is a place to visit. The largest collection of heavy artillery in Asia, the story related to the fall of Singapore in 1942, The Surrender Chambers, etc. Guides are very helpful, and there is a bus service from the beach trams to the fort.

“A couple of old cannons and a plasticky history display”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 March 2012

its ok. not fab. good for photo-shots of old cannons (there are plenty) set in a fort, slightly hidden by an encroaching forest. Apart from that, the Fort looks and feels abit too made-up / artificial.
