“great beachfront resort!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 September 2012

after landing in caticlan airport, a friday's employee will get you with a van, then transport you to the boats. after a short boat ride another quick ride by car and you reach the resort. we got a welcome drink and someone showed us to our very spacious room (room number 1) which was the closest to the beach. rooms: spacious, can accomodate up to 4 people. clean, well equipped. service: friendly, professional, just great. a variety of activities is offered directly at the hotel like scuba diving, island hopping etc. breakfast: you can choose between a couple of set breakfast, no buffet. still very good though. beach area: towel service, not crowded, private feeling. really nothing to complain about this resort! if you prefer a modern hotel, book "discovery shores" right next to it. but we really preferred this bungalo-style resort. thanks again to all employees for this great week!

Fridays is without question the best hotel located directly on White Beach (at Station 1).

It is everything you'd imagine a beach resort should be. Lots of palm trees, lots of white sand underfoot throughout the boutique resort, lots of genuinely friendly staff and nicely furnished, secure and room suites.

The restaurant/bar serves as the 'community' focus of the hotel and the cocktails are free-pouring sensational and the food is mostly very good.

In terms of position - Fridays is the very last resort at the end of White Beach which means it's walking distance along the beach close enough to the bars, clubs, and the infamous shopping 'mecca' of D Mall while also being far enough away not to attract too much passing traffice, vendors and fixers.

The only other high end hotel you may want to consider is the Shangri-La resort which is also very nice however - it is positioned across the island nearer to the shell beach 'Puka' and that alone means its a more isolated (and potentially more expensive experience if you stay exclusively onsite for all meals).

One of the things I really appreciated are: 1) The GM, a lovely Canadian is always out and about with his staff improving everything (his team moved the iconic Fridays tree sign while I was there and thatched roofs), 2) I mentioned in my registration that I was an Australian national living in Hong Kong - the little morning room newsletter featured clippings of Oz and HK news - nice touch, 3) the staff are attentive without stalking - a major issue in island resorts 4) organizing bike transfers at short notice - no problem!

Anything they could improve on? The massage area could possibly do with a more high end in-door area to complement the beach massages. And... the tv and a/c remotes are currently 'hidden' on the side of the bed mattress - don't do that, just put them in plain site please.

Not only would I recommend Fridays, I'm planning on coming back with my girl!

Room Tip: try to get one of the burras on the ground floor (the sand) directly opposite registration- rooms 27...

We chose Fridays based on advice from different travellers on TripAdvisor and we weren´t let down!

We had a smooth transport from the airport to the hotel and it seemed well coordinated and we got a nice welcome drink once we arrived. The bungalow we stayed in was nice and clean.

Everywhere we found staff with a great service attitude and smile. The girls in the Reception and Event Planning was always helpful, and from the SPA we got the best pedicure and also help with our sunburns (one of the employees took fresh Aloe Vera from her home to help us out).

The food was good and we had a nice time during the BBQ & fireshow evening.

We also had contact with the GM. He was a friendly and service minded guy that handled any incident in a professional way.

Absolutely love the Boracay Island with the restaurants shops and bars in the sand. Fridays just made the experience all the more memorable. It is not a luxury pool resort, but a true beach resort with sand squelching under your feet right up to your room. I have not been there recently so some things may have changed. But this resort truely is on the best part of the beach with great sunbeds and cocktails (very expensive) to match. It is a bit of a hike to the main area (shops) particularly in the heat of December, but there were plenty of bars to stop at and replenish or just drop into the sea.The rooms at Fridays are comfortably large but not overtly luxurious and for the price you probably would expect a little bit more. The restaurant is in the open and on the beach and it is glorious to dine there at any time of the day though it can be expensive. However there are plenty of other cheaper choices if you want to walk down the beach. The staff are friendly and helpful however we did have one not so pleasant experience when my husband went to exchnge money at the desk. He placed the counted amount of money on the counter and then was asked to sit down when they returned the money was gone. I cannot blame anyone as we should have kept a better track of our money but it did leave a sour taste in our mouths. We certainly didn't blame the staff as there was some work being done and other workers were in the area. but it did dampen the experience. That all being said Fridays is a beautiful resort and we would definately return.

This would be our 2nd visit to Boracay and both times we stayed at Fridays. We stayed for a week from 10th Aug.
I fell in love with it the first time and I'm still a fan the 2nd time.
Yes, it isn't a Shangri-la, but as others have mentioned before, they are not trying to be. If you like native feel with your accomodation, Fridays is defenitely it. If luxury is what you are after, stay at Shangri-la.

Fridays has the best location on the beach and the best sand. Staff were most helpful and friendly, especially Jojo.

Re activities, we had Jay as our guide and I must say, he did get us good deals for the activities. For example, P500 for reef walking (compared to P900 that we paid last year!) We also paid less on parasail and ATV. Note to tourists, do haggle otherwise, you will pay more than necessary.

As we were tempted to stay at Shangri-la this time round, we dined there just to see what it's about. Yes, it is grand and beautiful. As the resort is newly built, the building is in very good condition, as one would expect. It has a small private beach section. There isn't a direct access from Shangri-la to the White beach. One would have to take the shuttle service to D'mall and walk from there. We didn't stay there for this reason alone. I prefer to have access to the 4k of white sandy beach. However if you have young children, it's worth considering as they have great facilities for young kids.

Room Tip: Stay in the Premier room. it's a stone throw away to the beach.
