The hotel is located conveniently to get there from the airport (40 minutes if traffic is moving, less than 100,000 rupiah to airport incl. toll), visit the Old Town-Kota (20 minutes and app. 22,000 rupiah), sail to Thousand Islands or for family fun in theme parks (e.g. 10 minutes walk from aquapark). Good breath from Jakarta, far away from the real Jakarta. You need taxi to get anywhere outside Ancol.

Staff is very welcoming and helpful. We stayed outside weekend, so it was not busy. It is a great opportunity to meet Indonesians. We were probably the only foreigners at the time, so everything seemed to be very authentic.Good breakfasts including elements of traditional Indonesian and continental European food. Dishes a la carte - average in terms of quality and price. Nothing to be excited about, but convenient.

As the reception and the restaurant are in a good technical shape, cottages are a bit run down. Bathrooms definitely require substantial refresh. Swimming pool is a joke - inside a ship on dark waves of the Jakarta Bay. Suitable for some children only, also requiring refresh. We experienced freezing and flooding air conditioning which set itself on 18 degrees and did not allow for any extravagances allowing us to avoid getting cold in tropics. Staff reacted after the second (nervous call) and solved the A/C leaking issue, but nothing could be done to control the temperature.

Assuming - good choice for sleeping the jet lag and focussing on coastal attractions of Jakarta.

Room Tip: executive cottages are located close to the restaurant and main reception area - convenient, but may be busy and loud in some hours. Family cottages (with two double bedrooms and extra bed, kitchen area) face the mini-bay. Potentially more quiet.

+ Very well appointed rooms with everything you need.
+ Fantastic setting with great amenities

- They charge for the internet and its not that fast
- Bicycle hire is free but you cannot take them off there site which you really need to get around
- enamel coming off the bath - tired looking bathroom

My boyfriend asked me to join with him and his friends to stay one night at Putri Duyung Cottage. So, here we go, and this is my first time stayed inside Gelanggang Samudra Ancol area which is located at North Jakarta, Indonesia. We are stayed at 'Kuda Laut' area. The cost for one night in weekend about 2 millions rupiah. This price is too expensive, I guess, because we only got 2 simple bedsteads, one bathroom and some sofas for watching TV. Its really shocked us because we are all 12 members. So, how we gonna sleep with only 2 simple bedsteads. Our rooms have a lake view area, but we distracted by the noisy songs from a stage inside Ancol. The weather is so hot, so we just played and stayed inside our room. In Putri Duyung, we could ride a bicycle around Putri Duyung cottage area. We are prohibited to ride outside Putri Duyung cottage, I don't know why, but I felt bored because for only 10 minutes I already rode around Putri Duyung.
My suggestions is If you need some escape away and far away from noisy, don't stay in here.

Stayed here for one night in Dec. 2011 with a group of families. We rented two cottages. The cottages, I assumed like others there, were pretty old but very nicely and cleanly kept. Rooms, beds, kitchen, bathroom; just about everything in the cottage was clean.

The surroundings were also kept nice and clean. There was a kids play area in the middle of the complex with see-saw and swings. Also available bicycles, tricycles, and quadcycles to rent.

The complex was located near many restaurants so don't be bound to the hotel's restaurants.

Breakfast provided at the hotel's restaurant was good, variety wise. However, the food was practically had no tastes; very plain. Quite disappointing.

Overall, the experience was very good.

This is not the first time we stay at this hotel. Yet, the reason we stay here is because this is the only cottage where my kids can play with beach sand in Jakarta city. The room itself is old. Not too well maintained. There is some dirty spot on the bedsheet. Breakfast is poor. Only a few range of food. And even more. Because today, there are foods that are not there. Only the food tag on the table. The tags
are pancake and at the other table croissant and pastry. But no pancake and no croissant I can find.
