Room 918: Aircond leaking and smell like smoking room although it's on non-smoking room (as per reception). The rest of the room (all together 6 rooms) satisfied with the stay. Keep up the good work and always looking to improve.

p/s: Business centre staff needs more knowledge and skills especially dealing with airlines..

Requested for non smoking room but ended up the previous guest smoked in the room. i have not request to change a room as this is pretty common but unbearable. Toilet is dirty and bathtub is disgusting, don't even feel like putting your feet into it.

The staff were excellent and helpful. The room initially assigned to us was too small for our long term stay, and it was located at the end of the hallway, so the wireless internet reception was not good at all. Puji, the front desk supervisor, very kindly took our complain and moved us to a better room. Our new room was excellent, even though it is the most affordable one they have (superior room), but it is not lacking any comfort at all. The bed is heavenly, and the room is spacious with a small seating area by a huge floor to ceiling window. They have blackout curtain installed in each room, so the window didn’t bother us on those days when we chose to sleep in. AC work great, it kept the room nice and chilly for us. The jet shower is excellent too.

Room service is a 7 out of 10, they have a good variety of menu ranging from Indonesian, Chinese and American foods. I find that they do better with Indonesian dishes, than Chinese and western dishes. There is an excellent Chinese restaurant called Imperial Chef just down the road (walking distance). Pizza hut is also right next door to Imperial Chef. There are actually quite a few restaurants in the area, if you are up to trying different things.

There is a Blue Bird taxy cab depot right by the hotel’s lobby, there is always a taxy cab available at any time throughout the day. Blue Bird is one of the most reputable taxy company in Indonesia, any locals would highly recommend this brand. I would still suggest having a small GPS device handy. I brought my Garmin GPS with me at all times when I was there. Jakarta is a huge city and it is quite difficult to navigate even for taxy cab drivers.

The hotel is located in ‘Chinatown’ of Jakarta. It is a bustling rather rough area. The locals consider this area as ‘seedy’, because there are quite a few questionable establishments in this part of town. I wouldn’t suggest walking around too much on your own, it looks challenging during the day, I cant imagine at night. I supposed this is why The Mercure Jakarta Kota has a more affordable rate compared to other hotels in its caliber. If the hotel is moved to a better area, the rate will definitely increase.

All in all, yes I would stay at this hotel again.

Room Tip: Pick a room closer to the elevator, the wireless internet reception is much better and the room is generally bigger.
