We stayed at Kelapa Biru (Blue Coconut, named for the sea and the trees) for five nights. The staff - Made & Ketut, who cooked our meals at reasonable set prices payable each evening as required (no need for us to buy groceries as pre-arranged, post-paid basics were also ready for us on arrival), washed our clothes when needed and kept the house clean and tidy, Wayan the gardener who keeps the grounds in immaculate condition and acts as night watchman in a separate building on site and (a second) Wayan the manager and tour guide, who took us on a couple of day trips to destinations of our choosing and is very knowledgable about Bali and its inhabitants, were all very friendly and helpful.
We spent a fair amount of time in the elevated bale, relaxing and enjoying the views across the neighbouring rice fields to the sea in the distance.
The main dwelling consists of three bedrooms (two are air-conditioned), each of which has direct outside access to the separate bathroom and outdoor dining/living area. There are many outdoor seating options including loungers and the in-ground pool is suitable for all ages.
We’re light sleepers so the local dawn canine chorus and 6am call to prayer were unexpected alarm clocks. Choosing to stay in the country has many advantages over the hustle and bustle of the city and except for sight-seeing there was no need to leave the villa.
Thanks to Sylvia and her staff for making our stay an enjoyable one!
