Hong Kong hotels, especially the lower category ones, are famous for their tiny rooms.
Well, check out the Park Hotel Hong Kong. Stayed in a deluxe room for three nights.
Room was roomy. It even had space for a couch and coffee table. There was a nook
with a table and chair. The furniture is nothing to shout about. Wooden, dark coloured
closet, bed, chairs, tables. Nothing fanciful but enough.
Complimentary drinking water, replenished daily. Toiletries are adequate. No separate
shower but there is a bathtub. Housekeeping is efficient and staff polite and friendly.
Read some reviews that mentioned smell of cigarette smoke, even in non-smoking rooms.
I took a non-smoking room and had no problems with the air.
All this comes at a reasonable room rate. There are hotels in Hong Kong that have smaller rooms but with higher rates.
View from window: It looks into other buildings. No skyline.
Check-in was efficient and pleasant enough. Did not eat in the hotel, so no comment.
But Internet access at the business centre is costly.
Location of the hotel is second to none if you want to be in the middle of it all. Bright lights,
shops, malls, restaurants, transport (bus and MTR) all within walking distance. Busy, busy,
The facade of the hotel looks nothing like the one shown on its website. It has been renovated
and the main entrance does not open to Chatham Rd South but is at the "back' now, at
Granville Circuit. There is a side entrance/exit that opens to Cameron Road at the "side". This
is closed at midnight.
An observation though. The side entrance is open 6am to midnight and people can walk
in and out, whether they are guests or not. And the lifts to the rooms are near the side entrance.
So anyone can take the lifts and gain access to any floor. There are cameras and the concierge
desk is near the lifts but sometimes the staff are busy and they cannot keep an eye on those
who come in from the side entrance. Perhaps something can be done to enhance security, like using access cards in order to take the lifts to the room floors.
A bonus: King's Lodge restaurant is a few steps away from the hotel. It's popular and serves
For a hotel with spacious rooms that come with below-average rates, you cannot go wrong
with Park Hotel.
