We stayed here for 3 nights in February 2012 on the way back from NZ. We normally stay at The Nathan but couldnt get a booking there so as this was close by opted to stay here. The rooms are very small and cramped . As we had booked a " Delux " room we queried if we had been allocated the right room - we were assured that we had and when we asked what made it delux we were told it was the decor . There was no where to put your cases to keep them out of the way - and virtually no hanging space for garments. When we arrived the room was so cold - even after we shut off the air con -we had to ask for a blanket. In addition there were no cups in the room to have a cuppa so we had to ask for those too . On the second day our room wasnt made up , so we had no clean / dry towels - so day 2 we had to ask for those . Day 3 our room was made up but the tea/coffee/sugar wasnt replenished so we asked one of the staff for some more of them.

The bed was very very hard , but the pillows were lovely and soft .

The grill of the air con was falling off and a socket in the celing was hanging off. We love Hong Kong - and when we come back we will make sure we dont stay here again.

Room Tip: Book somewhere else

Dear Guest,

Thank you for posting your comments.

We are concerned to learn about your unpleasant experience, our deluxe rooms were renovated in year 2008, though the room size is a bit small due to infrastructure limitation, they are well received by our guests.

We found it unusual about your room cleaning schedule and services provided, can you please contact me at am@eatonhotels.com and provide more information, I will personally investigate and feedback to you the soonest?

Once again, thank you for your comments.

Sincerely yours,

Stan Chau

Booked this hotel after reading it's web site - what a mistake! Have stayed in Hong Kong over a dozen times so am used to the accommodation there and this was way below standard. We booked and paid for a city club room and were shown to an un-renovated standard room with no bedside tables or lights, the bed was pushed up against the wall so one of us would have to climb over the bed to get in. On complaint, we were given another room, again un-renovated, but with better windows! One bedside table, no reading lamps and only one chair. There was also a power point hanging off the wall and this was later fixed using super glue ( by them not us!). The staff are great and the public areas are lovely but unless you can get a renovated room the accommodation is very ordinary.

Room Tip: Try to get a renovated room!

Dear Guest,

Thank you for posting your comments.

We are concerned about your disappointments and we regret that the Club rooms in particular those with full length curve windows facing Nathan Road were all occupied during your visit as they are very popular.

Though we have renovated our lobby, public areas and most of the guest rooms, yet some guest rooms are due for upgrading renovation that's scheduled in phases. Rest assured that we will maintain these non-renovated rooms neat and tidy.

We value feedback such as yours as we continually strive to improve our services and facilities,

Once again, thank you for your feedback and looking forward to welcome you back to Eaton Smart, Hong Kong.

Sincerely yours,

With only twenty fours before departure just informed hotel chosen after intense study of TA - reviews of beautiful rooftop pool - ,has maintenance of pool closing it until mid March! Not a good start considering maintenance is planned well in advance!

Dear Guest,

Thank you for posting your comment.

We regret that our swimming pool is closed for annual maintenance which normally takes place before Spring time to get ready for the peak season. During our pool closure, we can arrange hotel guests to use the pool at our sister property, the Langham Place Hotel, Mongkok which is a few minutes away from our hotel. We are in progress to upgrade our swimming pool and gym facilities including putting new lounge chairs and pool furniture, it will bring a new look in mid March 2012.

Once again, we are sorry for the inconvenience caused. Thank you and we hope to welcome you back to Eaton Smart, Hong Kong in the near future.

Sincerely yours,

The staff are nice to offer champagne and chocolate for our honeymoon. However, the air con was faulty and generating loud screeching noise throughout the night (despite the room being newly renovated).. The next day, the maintenance crew tried fixing it and left the whole carpet wet in the process. Housekeeping did tried to dry the carpet. However, the carpet is still damp when we return. Worst, the same noise came back the following night. Due to the loud noise, we were unable to sleep that night. A generally good hotel to stay if they can ensure that the rooms released are suitable for guest stay.

6 night stay in HK, the hotel I usually stay was full so I was a bit sceptical.

Arrival: No one to help with the luggage but we followed the escalator to the lobby area.

Check in: Very efficient and quick

Room: Small, room to walk around the double bed, not much room to open the luggage. Bathroom was ok. Room was very clean, bed was comfortable. A fridge, safe, kettle and hair dryer as basic amenities

Hotel: No Wifi in the rooms, but cabled broadband (surcharge I think) but there are 6-7 computers in the lobby (free internet). We didn't try the restaurant but I had a beer at the bar (cost me $80 for a pint!!!)

Area: It was in between Jordan and Yau Ma Tei MTR station, walking distance from the busy Mongkok and ladies market. Temple St is only 5 mins walk. Seven-Eleven convenient store directly opposite main entrance and also 24 hrs McDonalds across the road (I got hungry after a night out, 3am)

Overall: Liked the hotel, did exactly what was needed. I didn't mind the small room as I don't stay there inside that often. Recommended!

Special mention: To Alex the concierge, based on the ground floor. He helpfully arranged a last minute bunch of flowers to my room (Valentine) and was very helpful for my trip to Macau
