“pretty good value”
Reviewed 7 April 2012

ive stayed in many hotels in HK and most are small. This is no exception, but lets face it you dont go to HK for the room but whats outside your hotel! It is in a great location close to the harbour and easy to get to the MTR. The breakfast that was included is ok, served in the lobby.
this was a good value for the dollars i paid, which wasnt much. If your staying on a Sunday, go to the buffet - its outstanding and i normally turn my nose at buffets

Stayed here prior to ship cruise in March 2012. Great location on Nathan road,
On bookin noticed hotel full of bussed in people from all around the world and lots of teens hanging around. At bookin I was asked if Iwas interested in doubling my paid rate for executive stay.Could not see any value as I only need sleep to get over jet lag. Was taken to 'non smoking' room. Bellboy removed ashtray and advised ' room now non smoking.. Room? were was it?. Honestly smaller than the ships cabin. Window looked at building wall 3 metres away.
Went for a walk along Nathan road. Very cheap for electronics and perfume. Noted the class of guests in the hotel on the way back to room. Very low, just like this smelly hotel. No pool or outside area for quests at all.

Room Tip: Buy the executive package and pay as much as the Sheraton across the road.

Perfect location , star ferry within wallking distance. subway right outside the door. Club level floor with wifi included and club level lounge for tea, coffee, water and beer and snacks
great breakfast buffet- chinese and american food. Rooms nice, clean and had everything we needed. A bit small, but I think that is the case with any room in Hong Kong.

Would definietely recomend it

We stayed at the Kowloon Hotel two weeks ago. Frankly we were disappointed with the hotel. We stayed in what was supposed to be an Executive Room. It was so small. There is no room to put your cases and the wardrobe is only about 250mm wide! The bed was only a double. The Exec Floor offes a 2 hour "happy hour" but the variety of the food they provide is fairly limited. The saving grace is that it is in Nathan Street in the shopping area and close to the harbour. We would look for something a bit better if we went to HK again

Room Tip: I think that all rooms are the same size

Normally I would pass on a hotel such as this because it is too far down on TripAdvisor. But with someone else handling the booking and having to stay close to an office I was visiting, I had no say.

I was in the hotel for less than 12 hours, including time in sleeping. So the tiny room--was not a major bother. Don't even try to swing a dead cat in the room because you could hit something with your swinging hand. As someone pointed out, once you open up a suitcase, you have to tiptoe around it. The photo of a bed and desk is accurate in showing the rest of the room after you get in. In fact, I had to step into the bathroom to allow the bellboy to bring my luggage in.

The Internet isn't free; breakfast starts at 7 am and I had to leave at 6 am; taxis whiz past the main roads but don't turn into the hotel driveway so I ended up pulling my luggage on to the main road in front of Peninsula Hotel.

I did not find the hotel staff particularly friendly. On the way out for a meeting, I asked the concierge for directions and then asked for an early wake up call. He gave me directions; but for the wake up call, he told me to call from my room. That is a "not-my-department" mentality that even civil servants are moving away from. I was a little surprised to see it in HK.

The location is fantastic. Don't bother dining in. Cross the major road to the Sheraton to Celestial Court to literally award-winning dim sum. Walking around the block in front to Peninsula to another wonderful Chinese restaurant. Walk underground to the view the Harbour and then dine at Serenade, yet another excellent Chinese restaurant.

BTW, the Harbour area has a light-show, synchronized with music that starts at about 9 pm. Several of the buildings in HK have their neon lights turn on and off and in coordinated pattern to provide a light show for about 30 minutes. Free.
