“Great experience”
Reviewed 6 September 2012

I stayed at the Harbour Grand Kowloon for 4 nights with my parents in the middle of August. The hotel was lovely and the staff couldn't be more helpful. It was my parents 40th wedding anniversary while we were there and the hotel upgraded them to a suite and also gave them a cake and wine on the day of their anniversary - it was such a nice gesture and one that was really appreciated.
A special thank you to Sophie & Agnes in the club lounge - they were so helpful when we checked in and throughout the rest of our stay.

Dear Guest, Thank you for choosing to stay with us and for your very kind comments. It was an honour to celebrate your parent's Ruby anniversary and I do hope they thoroughly enjoyed themselves and their stay. We hope to have the opportunity to server you again.

I stayed at the Harbour Grand Hotel for 4 nights during August. The rooms are particularly large for Hong Kong standards and the view of the harbour from the room was really amazing. We staying in the club room in order to benefit from the club lounge access as well as the free facilities and club breakfast.

The spa facilities were a bit tierd and the sauna and steam room were very small, but it was still nice to be able to access them for free after a busy day in the city. The one thing that was a bit annoying was that you could only eat your breakfast in the club lounge and the breakfast selection was not very good. If you wanted to go to the downstairs breakfast you had to pay an additional fee. I thought it was quite strange that when you pay the additional for a club room, you get a worse breakfast then then you would have received if you had paid for a standard room at the hotel. I defnitely think that they need to look at improving the breakfast in the club lounge, because at the moment the extra club room charge is defnitely not worth your while.

The hotel is also not in close walking distance to the MTR station, however the hotel does offer a free shuttle service into the city which is defnitely worth while and available every 30mins. This is available to all hotel guests.

The hotel also has a buffet meal at their main restuarant every night. Although the price per person is expensive, it is defnitely worth while. The spread and selection of food and drink available is really fantastic. Was one of our best meals in Hong Kong.

The staff were also very friendly. In particular, the staff in the club lounge made an effort to get to know you and were always helpful and friendly.

Although we had a good time at the hotel, I do not think I would return as I think there are defnitely more hotels that are more central and closer to MTR stations. Also, if I were to return I would book a standard room opposed to the club room as the benefits we received were not worth the extra $.

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to leave your comments. If you would permit me to explain a little about the Club Lounge. The Lounge is exclusively open only to those who are staying on the Club Floors and is intended to provide a more private environment where guests can enjoy complimentary services that are not otherwise available to non-Club Floor guests. We would like to provide something extra for guests who have decided not to pay for breakfast at the buffet restaurant or whose room package does not include it. As the Club Lounge is not a restaurant, we try our best to provide a selection of favourite foods but it will not be as extensive as the restaurant. In addition, the Club Lounge also provides a host of other extra benefits such as complimentary internet, business centre, private check-in and snacks and refreshments throughout the day.

I am sorry that you were disappointed with the Club Lounge but hope that you enjoyed the other services we provided. All the same, I will forward your comments to the Club Lounge as we are always keen to make improvements to enhance our guest's experience.

Thank you again for sharing your comments.

Very good even perhaps an excellent hotel. The room, the service, the food all excellent. The rooftop pool fantastic.

However, the location is very poor. To get round this the hotel lays on a minibus. Ok, a few notes about this bus, let's say it's not exactly very wide. If two normal size europeans sit in the centre seats on either side of the isle there is a good chance they would rub shoulders, the bus is very narrow. However that's not the main problem the bus is often full, we stayed here for four nights and on four occasions people were turned away from a full bus sometimes it was the last bus of the night. Sometimes there were double the number of people for the seats available and once we didn't get a seat ourselves. This hotel is nice but it's in the sticks and not a great area either. It needs to seriously sort out the bus issue, otherwise book a hotel in central Kowloon. To be honest we were dropped off everyday at the peninsula hotel and picked up from there so a twenty minute journey if you can get on the bus, we ended up thinking we wished we had just booked the peninsula or other down town hotels as you can walk straight out of a hotel there and into the central area where everything is going on and not have a twenty minute unreliable(in that you may not get a seat) bus journey.
The second issue I have is with your bags. We had to check out at noon but our flight left in the evening we asked the hotel to look after our bags. Ok just for a minute let's consider what the first thing your asked when checking in for your flight, could anyone have tampered with your luggage right? Ok, well our luggage was left in the reception area all day with lots of others, people were actually sat on seats in touching ( and interfering) distance of our luggage by the door. It was easy for people perhaps not to steal ( although possible) but absolutely 100% easily possible to interfere with them. The thought is unimaginable, the consequences of so many bags sitting there day after day. This needs to be sorted out immediately.

Room Tip: Insist on a harbour view.

This hotel is so awesome! This is the second time we had stayed in this hotel. This time was to celebrate our 7th wedding anniversary. The manager was aware of our celebration, put us up on the higher floor, had welcome fruit basket and also champagne for us. The staffs were so friendly and helpful. Kevin, the receptionist, went out of his way to make our trip a pleasant one. The housekeeping staffs and even the doormen were so professional! We felt so welcome! The room is spacious, even with an extra bed for our 5 yr old daughter. The view of the harbor was amazing! I can't wait to go back to Hong Kong again and stay at this hotel!! Thanks to all staffs at Grand Harbour Kowloon for making our stay a wonderful and pleasant one!

We arrived on a Friday afternoon and the hotel was packed. They asked if we wouldn't mind checking in to our room at 10pm in exchange for a free breakfast buffet the next morning. We agreed if they also upgraded our room to a harbour view. Wish we hadn't bothered waiting.... breakfast was awful, felt like I was in a canteen. There was little western choice and even the fruit was dry. I certainly would not pay for breakfast here when there are plenty of other options down the road. The harbour view was ok but at the quieter end of the harbour (you couldn't see any of the skyline proper) and I'm glad we hadn't paid extra for it.

The rooms themselves were large and comfortable and the staff were knowledgable and polite. Getting taxis from the hotel was no problem and we used the subway and star ferry a lot (get an octopus card when you arrive at the airport). We ate in the restaurant attached to the hotel (out of the door and to the left) and whilst the happy hour cocktails were good the food was very average. The pool area was good but is pretty windy at this time of year.

I guess I would stay here again but I would not eat in the hotel and there are probably hotels in better locations on the Island for a short stay.
