“Nice Stay”
Reviewed 8 September 2012

I stayed at the Trader’s Hotel in September 2012. It was a nice stay, better than I expected.

The front desk is situated one floor above ground level. The lobby area has a sitting area near the front desk, and a lounge where you can get a drink while waiting for your friends.

The bedroom is on the small side, which is fine for one person but not two. Clean and modern, the room has a flat screen TV, a small refrigerator, a kettle to make your own coffee, two bottles of water, an iron-board, a hair-dryer and a safe for your valuables.

The bathroom is bright with enough shelf space for clothes and toiletries.

As my room was on the 10th floor, there was no city view or sea view to talk about, only the walls and roof-tops of nearby buildings.

Complimentary internet worked without any problems.

Service was excellent. The staff were friendly and helpful, especially the doormen who gave me suggestions on where to eat and how to take the tram.

The hotel has a coffee shop, Cafe 508, on the 3rd floor. I had dinner there and found the beef rendang and chicken rice surprisingly good. Nearby are a McDonald's, a Kentucky Fried Chicken, and a number of eating places.

The hotel is located at Queens Road West, on the north-west side of Hong Kong Island. There is a tram stop two blocks from the hotel where you can take the tram to Central. The nearest MTR station (Sheung Wan) is more than 20 minutes by foot. The hotel provides a shuttle to the Macau Ferry Terminal, the Star Ferry Terminal and Admiralty.

Stayed whilst it was still called Jen Hotel, rooms small but well turned out, had no view but didnt stay within the hotel that much. Great amenities, location a little bit out of city centre and value for money borderline but good for Hong Kong during the Rugby Sevens. Not many negatives at all, just not outstanding. Served a purpose.

Room Tip: Higher the better baby....

This hotel completely exceeded my expections! We had an amazing view of the harbour from our room. The room was spacious, very fresh and clean. The staff were so friendly, attentive and helpful! The view from the Traders Club lounge was terrific by night (and day) and very relaxing to sit in and have a few drinks. Will definitely be back!

Have just had two nights in a traders club room and would certainly use this hotel again. Rooms very modern and clean. Traders lounge staff very attentive in the evenng with cocktails with good views over the western end of the harbour. Slight downside was going for breakfast well within the time stated but not much choice left. Good free shuttle but also very near to tram stop. Lots of convenience stores within a few steps.

Room Tip: Worth paying the extra to get use of the lounge.

I loved everything about my stay here. The rooms, the amenities, the location - everything.
I heard prior to leaving for HK how small the rooms are, but it was not the case here. I wouldn't call it spacious, but it was a decent size. And they won me over with the window seat.
And the cleaning - it was superb. As picky as I am about it, it was one of the places ware I went barefoot in the room without second thought.
And to adress the location, while it is a bit away from central, I actually quite enjoyed to daily tram ride to and from the hotel. And it was charming to have breakfast or dinner in the nearby joints and mingle with the locals. To me the distance from Central was a plus for the hotel.
Also a plus that the A10 route that leves from the airport stops a short distance away from the hotel entrance.
I actually plan to stay here again on my return trip.
