As a district, it is one of the quietest in Hong Kong
I guess its a nice place to live. Unless during working days or time boats arrive from fishing the place get a strong fish smell, this is my doubt.
As a fish market, they are opened mostly for brokers and big buyers
I expected the place to be crowded os restaurants serving fish. Instead, in the second floor of a market they have a hufe area, served by several bars. Not a nice nor clean place.

An authentic sampan tour of the renowned floating village of Aberdeen provides a first hand view of Hong Kong's severe income disparity, and a memorable experience. Although still a working fishing village it has been engulfed by commercial towers and factories.
Piloted by elderly folks who may actual live on board this sampan you will zig-zag among the world's largest floating restaurant, world class yachts, and an eclectic jumble of poor fishing boats, houseboats, and sampans for a closer view of the way of living in this fishing village.

It was cool to get in a sampan, but there was a lot of exhaust fumes. The Jumbo restaurant is a main attraction as well as the fishing village. There were a few high end yachts mooring right next boats that looked like thet were about to sink. The boat ride what short and didn't include an English speaking guide, but the lady did point out some interesting spots for photos.

My two sons and I went to the Aberdeen fishing village with Splendid Tours. We had a 20 minute Sampan ride piloted by an elderly man. The boat went around other boats including house boats and two large floating restaurants including the Jumbo restaurant which, according to our tour guide, has a 2300 capacity and serves 8 course meals. There were even dogs on one houseboat which gives an idea how the boat people lived. There were also quite a few yachts but most were covered and I assume the owners were away. Without a tour guide, this could be boring as the boats look old and shabby but the tour made the difference.
