“Beautiful setting, fantastic drinks.......but!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 June 2012

Its probably more about nostalgia that reality that I still enjoy going to the Hong Kong bar in the early evening. It really is a magic setting, however its more of a 'must have' experience with a cocktail in your hand and the breathtaking views, especially as the sun goes down. It could really do with a bit of a facelift.........but then it probably wouldn't be nostalgic.

“This classic spot has lost some luster...”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 May 2012

This older Kowloon spot has lost a bit of luster. The "High Tea" is average and not worth the wait nor price. Drinks in the bar are OK and pricey. You can try the top floor bar in the evening for a nice view but expensive and average.

“Go for a pre-dinner drink but eat somewhere else!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 April 2012

I would do what most people do here, go for a drink (or two) but eat at another establishment. For example, search for my review of Serenade restaurant near the hotel.

I wore a smart shirt and jacket with jeans and this was the standard dress of other people in the bar at the time. I would imagine that casual clothes were not acceptable.

The bar is funky and modern, although shutters on the windows on the day we were there made photographing the view of the harbour impossible.

I would also recommend using the toilets. The gents toilets are particularly fun to use!

We paid approximately £12 for each gin & tonic although it was good quality gin (Bombay Sapphire) and you are served with bowls of nuts and pretzels. There was a strong wi-fi that was free of charge that we could use.

The bar at the top of the Peninsula Hotel is actually the bar attached to the restaurant named 'Felix'. The easiest way to access the bar is to go up in the dedicated elevator which is accessed from the Peninsula Arcade entrance adjacent to Hankow Road.

“what a view and lovely cocktails”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 January 2012

I will start of by saying that if you are out for a special meal then my following comments will not apply - and I suggest you eat here.
My girlfriend and I like the high life and we also like getting into the places we go. In BKK we had cocktails on the roof of a 50+ floor building and spent $50 on drinks, only to eat on the street our dinner for $3.
This is what i would advise here. Go to this and admire the views of HK Island. Enjoy meeting people, in a high class world with good service and great cocktails. When finished - go out and eat in a local restaurant with few non locals. Great food and such an experience.
As I say - if it is an anniversary or similar eat here. But otherwise if on holiday, you can eat at similar place in any major city anywhere in the world
