We (couple) stayed April 12 in fantastic room on 35-st floor with great view to the harbour. Comfortable not large room. Great location. Just 3 minutes walk to tube station.
The staff are very helpful and friendly.

Room Tip: harbour club

Stayed at the Harbour Grand for 4 nights and overall the hotel room was fine. The resturant / bar on the top of the hotel has some of the best views of Hong Kong and Kowloon. The only downside to the hotel is its location as you are slightly of the main centre, but the MTR is only a couple of minutes walk away. If you stay at this hotel make sure you do not have a room by the lifts, as the noise can be a bit loud at times, as sound proofing is very poor.

Also at the moment there is a major construction site directly in front of the hotel which is very noisy, which you can hear in the room at 8am in the morning.

Room Tip: If you stay at this hotel make sure you do not have a room by the lifts, as the noise can be a bit l...

Stayed at the Harbour Grand for 4 nights at the end of March and the hotel was fine. They were helpful, very courteous and always obliging. My only criticism, and this would be a plus for some visitors, is that it is a bit out of the way. We visited the HK Flower Show in Victoria Park and that was easily accessible by foot from the hotel. Virtually everything else needed to be accessed by the subway trains. However, that really wasn't a problem because Fortress Hill Station is a two minute walk away and of course the train system is fantastic --- cheap and far-reaching. The hotel is a good hotel and if you wanted to stay in and take advantage of all their facilities it wouldn't disappoint. Missed some gentle live music in the lobby lounge.

I went to see this hotel when I was in HKG late last year and booked for a 5 night stay with my family (2 children aged 3 and 7) on the basis of what I saw. The staff here are very helpful and friendly and that was a great introduction to the city. A special mention must go to Leo in the Harbour Club.

The location is controversial, but I get the feeling this is not a typical business hotel and that might explain it's capacity (seemed quite full) whilst being outside the main 'hub' of the city. In reality I think this is perfect in fact, since the walk to the MTR (Fortress Hill) takes only 2 mins and it is less than 5 mins to central from here on a direct line. There are some great places to eat along electric road - very cheaply too.

I have stayed in a few hotels in HKG over recent years and none have had this (most spectacular) view from the harbour club floor (41) and the restaurant there. I have a feeling that this may only be achievable from this floor (and possibly even only from this part of Hong Kong Island) but when you price up breakfast it is not as bad a premium as if first seems. We will be back for a night in a week or so, and are not on the higher floors (we were on the 37th floor) so I will be able to compare then. The breakfast upstairs was good and the canapes and cocktails in the evening a nice touch, with free soft drinks and beer throughout the day.

However, there is a huge construction project going on next door. It looks as if a new skyscaper is to be added to Hong Kong's increasingly cramped address book. This was not in progress when I visited and would have cost them my booking had it been. The pool area is very pleasant but under these circumstances it was not the relaxing haven I had expected. The level of noise is remarkable, it made hearing my children virtually impossible - and that is some achievement! The pool is also freezing and the children were shivering after only 10-15 mins of swimming. There also were pieces of glass, sharp wire and a screw, amongst the items we removed from the pool floor - one of which cut my son's foot. All rather bizarre for a 5-star establishment - as was the response (a sticking plaster).

All in all, this did not spoil our stay but I would hesitate to 'recommend' this to families/people seeking R&R until the building site next door is more complete. At the moment they are digging foundations it would appear and this is very noisy - you can even hear the banging in the bedrooms which is amazing as aircraft and vehicles whizz by without a sound. As a business hotel when guests would be out all day it would be perfect.

Room Tip: Pay extra for the harbour club rooms with a view - it's amazing!
