Very disappointed! Ordered my fav Stinky tofu and turned out that they served over moldy and stale tofu. An awful experience. Wouldn't go again.

Shanghai-style restaurants are aplenty in Hong Kong, but none comes as authentic as this. As its name suggests, Hong Zhou Restaurant serves the untainted taste of southeastern China. Many options are unavailable elsewhere in the city and may even be unheard of for first-time diners. Food is very nice and mildly seasoned. Fried freshwater shrimps is crispy and savory. Smoked frog leg is succulent and full of smoky aroma. Dessert is very underwhelming, though. Service is polite. Price is on the upper end but quite reasonable. Reservation is a must especially during weekends.

I’d meant to go to Hong Zhou Restaurant for quite some time and finally had dinner there with a group of friends last night.

I highly recommend stewed pork trotter in brown sauce which is one of the signature dishes of the restsurant. But it’s necessary to pre-order. It’s very delicious and flavourful and cooked to perfection without being greasy at all.

Yunnan ham in honey sauce was another star dish of the night. Stinky tofu was very good too.
Most other dishes which we’d were tasty though not outstanding.

It’s quite noisy in the restaurant. But it’s only a small issue.

Apparently it’s a 1 Michelin Star restaurant. Went there with my local colleagues who knew what to order. We had jelly fish, chicken feet, drunken crab which are all rather exotic. The highlight was definitely this enormous fish head that was steamed and bathed in a soy sauce n some chili (not too spicy). It was fresh and steamed to perfection but because of its size, best shared with at least 4 people. Overall enjoyed the meal

I was looking for recommended restaurant around my hotel and found that Hong Zhou is quite interesting. All the review on the internet sum it all up. Even they has good service, I think it’s a little bit overrated for 1 Michelin star. I am trying several menu that they’ve recommended and our family enjoyed it well. They’ve come with premium taste and seasoning in every meal. So I can give 4 star for my review because they provide looks-plain-but-delicious-friedrice, and recommended salted ham and fried bean curd bun, the rest was good, recommended, but weren’t that extraordinary.
