I stayed at this property for almost 7 nights with my two boys (14 and 11) as we started our Asia vacation (including Hong Kong and Thailand). The hotel is located in an upscale area. It is very close to the Dawang Lu Subway station. Taking the subway was really easy and a very economical and quick way to explore Tiannamen Square, Wang Fujing and Silk Market given that the traffic in Beijing is horrendous. Yes hardly anyone speaks English but we don't speak any Mandarin and we managed fine. On our last day my husband and I ventured to Wanda Plaza also close to the hotel to check out Walmart in China. It was quite an experience.

One thing to note is that the hotel is not that well known by taxi drivers if you are coming from the airport. The taxi drivers in Beijing normally look to take you for a ride and charge you an arm and a leg. On our way back from Hong Kong we had to pay three times the fare to get to the hotel.

My husband is a platinum with Marriott and we were on an executive floor and they upgraded us to suite which was fabulous. The breakfast at the restaurant was O.K but the service was great.

We tried Din Tia Fung at Shin Kong Place shopping center which is located right by the hotel. It is a Taiwanese chain specializing in dumplings and it was O.K. Marriott had recommended that place as it's extremely popular.

During our trip we had hired a driver through my husband's company for our personal use and that was the best thing we did. The cost was literally half of what the hotel charged especially to go to Mutianyu section of the Great Wall.

Overall we had an amazing time in Beijing and I highly recommend the hotel for it's staff. Everyone from the doormen to the waitstaff to the lounge staff were extremely friendly, spoke good English and were very helpful.

Room Tip: If you are traveling with a family of 4 ask for a room with two double beds. Normally they don't advertise it because there is a one child policy in China but they have the rooms. We were in a suite but our last leg we were in a room with double beds and it was small but comfortable.

First trip to China with family and our hotel of chic was the JWMarriott Beijing. I have stayed in many hotels over the past 30 years and the staff at this property is absolutely the best I have ever experienced. From the front desk reception to the housekeeping staff, the concierge staff, to the executive management team it does not get any better. The location is terrific, near high end stores (similar to NY Fifth ave) and next to it's sister property The Ritz Carlton. Bejing is a wonderful City and I applaud the Chinese people for making it one of the best in the world. Great historical sites and a very clean and safe place to visit. What a great trip

Stayed here for 5 nights with my wife. The hotel is everything you'd expect from a top notch business hotel in China: friendly service, efficient checkin, very clean, well-appointed rooms. The gym is also very nice, although a bit hot. The locker room faciities are great.

The hotel is not in an ideal location though for sight seeing. There is a subway stop right next to the hotel, so you could be in the city center in about 20 minutes. There is also a very elegant mall with an amazing food court in front of the hotel.

But you will pay for all of the niceness of the hotel. It is expensive. Breakfast is amazing, but it costs $40. A beer from the minibar costs $10. The gym is free thankfully.

I'd say that if you are here for tourism, stay somewhere closer to the city center.

We didn't take the executive lounge option (extra $100), but unless you're going to eat every breakfast and dinner in the hotel it doesn't seem worth the price at all. Plus there are a variety of of good value restaurants in the mall, as well as an excellent supermarket.

This J W Marriott has easy access to attractions, subway, shopping, many good restaurants close by. Taxis are easy and staff is outstanding.

I have spent an average of 10 days at this hotel since April 2011 and each time, staff is warm, friendly, remembers my details and preferences. Rooms are nice, quiet, very little street noise.

Fitness center is clean and has basic equipment but is always a bit too hot with not a lot of fans or ventiliation. Pool is excellent and doesn't seem to be used frequently.

In China Central Mall across the street, lower level, there is a great massage place. Best foot massage in Beijing for the money.

Room Tip: Request a room in the front of the building.
