I found that when I stayed here it did everything that a hotel should do. It was clean, tidy and the staff spoke enough English to help if you needed them. Location is great in relation to the Beijing subway and the supermarkets. I'd recommend going to the supermarkets there as a sightseeing experience! I was only there for 3 nights as I spent most of my time camping in villages near The Great Wall but I found it a decent hotel, in a great location and the staff very friendly. What more do you need?!

The two best things about the Chong Wen Men Hotel are the location and the breakfast. The hotel is right next to a subway stop which was VERY convenient. It was also located close to many of the major sites so none of the subway rides were terribly long.

The breakfast was included and had so many choices it was overwhelming. There were many traditional Chinese dishes but also many Western style breakfast foods. Everything I ate was good.

The room was okay. I was on a group trip so I shared a room and we had two twin beds. The beds were VERY hard but Chinese beds typically are harder than Western beds. The bathroom was also a bit gross. The shower from the room upstairs poured into our shower. We made sure to shower in the evening so that when the people upstairs showerd in the morning we didn't get hit with their dirty shower water. The other people that were in my group never had this type of problem and their rooms seemed to be a bit more updated than our room. We never tried to switch rooms.

The one other "issue" is that there is internet in the lobby of the hotel. You can use it for 15 minutes a day but only once per room. Since I had a roommate we couldn't both use the internet on the same day. The computers were rarely used so I wouldn't have been taking up time from many other hotel guests.

I would stay at the hotel again I would just make sure that I had a shower that didn't leak. The great location really does make up for the shower issue.

This is a good hotel indeed. Price was pretty decent. I had a memorable stay in Beijing. Excellent location - as nearby subway line 2 and 5. The buffet in the morning was excellent at the hotel restaurant. The 15minutes free internet service also worked out great.

Stayed here for 3 nights on two occasions in October either side of a trek to Great Wall. Problems checking in, only one staff member spoke any English and unfortunately she wasn't on duty at the time! Room not ready at check in but was allowed to wait in room while it was superficially cleaned. Towels very poor quality. No free water in room...tap water unusable so no choice but to buy until other sources found. Constant noise from Beijing traffic making it difficult to sleep. Noted nut shells on the floor between twin beds which hadn't been cleaned...these were still there when we were allocated the same room after trek some 7 days later! Breakfast in Maxims restaurant hard to describe. Was billed as a "French experience" unfortunately it was so dark it was hard to see anything in there.Food not the best quality but reasonable choice. ( Starbucks one block up from hotel was a great alternative though!) Worst feture was the habit the Chinese have for spitting...this was even seen to happen in hotel lobby which was off putting to say the least. Hotel was booked by tour company...wouldn't recommend it to anyone and believe there are far better hotels just across the road.
