Very nice place to go. We took cable car 1st. Get a good walking shoe or else leg and feet will be painful. Very nice view from the top. Have to becareful cos side wall quite low. People who have knee pain i suggest to wear knee guard cos up and down the slop knee really can feel the pain.

Day 6-The final lap-Jiankou to Mutianyu.
Today was the final day of the walk. Once again, we were up at dawn, heading towards the Great Wall of Mutianyu. Standing on the Great Wall, I was overwhelmed by what I had seen. Ahead of it, the Great Wall curved for miles and miles through the mountains, and it was hard to believe that we had been on those winding mountains for almost six days.
We had to descend everything we had climbed, as I came to understand why tourists are not allowed in the Janikou wall. We were now departing the most dangerous part of the wall in the direction of Mutianya.
The entire hike required much effort from my now wobbly legs and knees. Every so often, we came across a few tourists complaining that the tour they had booked was a day tour involving 2 or 3 hours of hiking, and they explained about having to climb stairs and more stairs. I wanted to remind them that we had been a part of this terrain for 6 days, and at times, clinging to a few stairs was a blessing than trying to navigate those sliding rocks and slippery stones. Since we had no interest in taking the cable car to Mutianyu, it meant another two hours of hiking until we reached the village. I could see the town in the foreground, and I turned back and took one long look at the Great Wall of China. My next mission was, where could I buy a bottle of water, or better, a bottle of beer?
PS: I have had a lot of inquiries about this hike, including the cost, the food, the dwelling, the fitness level, etc. If you are interested, I can detail the cost when the body and brain are in a functioning mood.
PS: As a matter of interest, the wall at Bandalng attracted 60,000 visitors on a single day, and Mutianya had a record 24 thousand on a single day!
Compare this with the trek we just completed. During the entire six days, we may have encountered no more than 200 people, and most of those we met were on a two-hour tour of Mutianya
