Mubus Tour to Mutianyu was good, efficient and our guide Jily was a bundle of joy, very positive and humorous. Would recommend this tour for all first-timers to the Great Wall!

The Great Wall is so iconic that we would be remiss if we did not include it in our itinerary. Several of my friends that visited Badaling warned me of mad crowds, so our guide brought us to Mutianyu instead.
After a passport scan, we took a shuttle bus to the cable car station. I was already struggling to keep up with my guide as the walk from the shuttle bus drop off point to the cable car station is uphill all the way. Persisted doggedly, and reached tower 14. On official websites, we were told that Tower 14 to 23 is the most beautiful segment of the wall. But we opted to go in the opposite direction towards Tower 10 instead. This is because the slopes on this side is gentler (but still a climb in several parts) and the crowd is a lot more manageable. It turned out to be a wise choice. Everyone’s wondering why my Great Wall photos has no one else in the background!
It was amazing! We took the cable car up which was easy but it was still a lot of walking and a little bit of a climb, but completely worth it.
Took a trip to the great wall from Beijing cbd, approx a 1.5hr ride via private car. Walked up from the carpark to the chairlift, rode the chairift up and then took the toboggon down, lots of fun. Then took the cable car to the Great Wall entrance.
On exiting had lunch in the village at a nearby restaurant, great food. Also visited a roadside 'pick your own fruit' stall and orchard. Delicious fresh fruit.
Traffic on the way back was very heavy nearing the cbd so took a bit longer to return.
Pleny of facilities e.g. toilets, snack shops etc...
Must haves...
Passport (you will not be allowed on any rides or purchase tickets without).
Runners/trainers/joggers... it can be very slippery on the walk up to the chairlift and cable car and good footware for the actual wall walking is also highly recommended, some parts of the wall are incredibly steep.
You need a decent level of fitness to tackle longer walking but you just walk as long as you are able to, no stress, just stop and turn back, you still get the amazing experience of being on the Wall!
Very comfortable tour with Mubus company. We are one family with a 2-year -old baby. Because of short time break ,my kid was crying the whole trip to the wall.
I felt so worried about this trouble. But my sweet guide Jily had a big smile for us and also take one paper to make a plane quickly. I can fell her patience .
Nobody knows, how was my feeling! From nervous to clam. Then on the bus drive to the wall, she told us a lot of the Great Wall history. I even knew today’s Great Wall more were rebuilt by the Ming dynasty.
Also why the capital changed from south to north in beijing.
When we arrived the wall,Jily led us to use a very clean and west toilet. Then show us to their Mubus service center.
We have a really tasty buffet lunch! Unbelievable,it’s international!
My dad and my baby all can enjoy it! Excellent food.
Mubus map also mentioned 2 classic routes. The west longer and higher more beautiful!
The east is short but Jily told us the east also fantastic!you can see the largest tower on 4th. But because of the baby,Jily suggested we did the west because of the cabin cable car east for us!
Anyway,I really enjoyed my adventure with Mubus, everything is smoothly
Thanks for everyone from Mubus!
This was definitely an experience seeing and walking on this amazing wonder - the story behind it just adds to the experience.
We had a private guide. Apparently this part of the wall is less busy than other parts. You take a shuttle bus then take a cable car up to the wall, however the walk to the cable car is reasonably steep walk for about 500m. Once at the wall, there is still a lot of large steps and some steep parts to walk. I'd recommend a reasonable level of fitness to be able to enjoy it.
Also you'll need good walking shoes like runners or hiking shoes as the ground which is made of rock is uneven and can be slippery.
An amazing sight and experience.
