A beautiful area that is crowded with people, rickshaws, tandem bikes, and even cars and very overtouristed (at least on the weekend when we were there). Get away from the lakes the booming music from the bars and stroll into the tranquil restored hutongs that surround this area. Some of these hutongs are most unique in Beijing. There are lovely small bars and restaurants away from the main drag to discover. the ones along the water are very overpriced and you pay for the view (that is if you can see beyond the crowds).
