Owner description: Once a summer retreat for emperors, this 290-acre park is still a retreat for the crowd-weary tourist, who can relax here or stroll around ancient pavilions, mansions, temples, bridges and huge lake, stopping occasionally at a shop or tea-house.

Amazing place to walk around during a nice sunny day! It's beautiful and gives you a relax feeling.

The summer palace is beautiful but sprawling.we were caught up in traffic on the way there(on public buses)via the zoo so we were pretty tired getting there but managed to take most of it in, there are great temples and views of the lake. Make sure to give your self the whole day there.

The place is very big & you could still feel the grandeur of its past as you walked through the Summer Palace. You would not feel like you have to squeeze with everyone as you walked as there is plenty of space for everyone to move around. Go there early morning if you want to avoid the crowd & heat. You would probably need to spend at least 2-3hours there if you want to take your time to cover the whole place.
