“Not too bad.”

This is a busy hotel that seems to cater for the conference traveller, and this was reflected in the room I had which was nicely set up with a desk and ample powerpoints to recharge phones, computers etc. The nearby supermarket, which was under a posh department store, was useful to buy water (the hotel did supply complimentary small bottles) but the locked bar fridge was a bit annoying. Next to the supermarket is a large restaurant/take away place, but the hotel restaurants are fine. Really, though, you don't have to walk far in Beijing to find nice and cheap street food, just turning off a main road may help. The hotel is next to the Olympic park so there's somewhere to wander, and the Olympic Green subway is not a long walk away. As a tourist though I would probably choose to be closer to a subway station. A good thing about the hotel is the midday check out - it makes for a relaxing exit. Just remember that you can wait in line at the front desk.

I stayed in this hotel for three nights in early May. It is a refurbished concrete box and is quite limited. The moment you enter the foyer of the hotel you feel like you have stepped behind the iron curtain into former times. The rooms are basic and utilitarian - there has been an attempt to redecorate, but let's just say it is mutton dressed up as lamb. The walls are thin and if you are unlucky to have people staying around you there is constant noise. No fitness room. Breakfast is terrible. No newspapers. Nothing to redeem itself. Look further afield for better value.

First there was the drill from 8 in the morning until 6 in the night as a result of renovations. You would think that the obvious solution would be to house guests in parts of the hotel relatively unaffected by the noise, but I felt like a giant rat was trying to knaw its way into the room. Not good when you come home in the middle of the day feeling sick and need to lie down.

Second, the expenses, lots of little ones. $5 to wash one shirt. Hideously expensive pots of tea (the cheapest one being about $30). Prices well over any Australian hotel. $1-2 to print a single sheet of paper in the so-called 'business center'

Few facilities for a hotel that claims to be five stars. No gym, no swimming pool. A disappointment since I was looking forward to getting some exercise in smoggy Beijing.

Finally, the internet. Very expensive. Quite slow. Shocking security - our emails got hacked for the first time when we were at the hotel and someone started sending spam out from our addresses (and our passwords were not something like '1,2,3,4,5'.

Do yourself a favour and avoid this place. Lucky the conference paid for our rooms (one day equal to a month's rent in a decent Beijing apartment).

It was my first trip to Beijing, and a group from my school went for the HMUN conference. Check-in took a long time, and we were waiting for about 25 minutes. The rooms were extremely warm, due to "air conditioners" which seemed to heat the room when we set it to cool to 5 degrees Celsius. The shower was extremely small and smelled like cigarette smoke, but the rest of the room was fairly modern and comfortable. The hotel only provided two small bottles of water, which isn't enough for two people. Luckily, there is a supermarket down the road, in which you can buy supplies.
The hotel is connected directly to the conference centre, which is extremely handy. The facade of the building is very old and run down looking, but the inside seems newer.
The buffet breakfast was not nice. I'm not sure if its because there was a conference, but the buffet lacked variety, even though it was fairly large in size. Each of the sections had the same food. There were a few restaurants around the hotel, but most were fast food places, or cheap food court restaurants. You would need to walk for at least 10 mins to find a proper restaurant.
The view from the hotel rooms was not good. I would wake up to see a barren, dry park with two, puny trees standing in the middle, or in some people's case, the highway. There was a constant honking of Beijing taxis, and the hotel was located next to the highway. Although the hotel was located somewhat near the iconic Bird's Nest and the Water Cube, it was a fair walk to get there, and you couldn't see them from the room I was in. Check-out also took a long time, and we were waiting in the lobby for 45 mins.
The hotel is very big with a lot of rooms, and an alright option if you are attending a conference at the Beijing conference centre. It is close to a mall, which is convenient if you want to buy food or medicine, but if you are not attending a conference, I would suggest staying at a nicer hotel in the main city.

This hotel is located near the birds nest stadium in beijing. There's not a lot to say about this hotel. The room was well furnished and everything is new. The linen was very comfortable. The reception is set up like an airline checkin counter with strap barriers to control the crowd as its quite a large hotel. One thing to note is there doesn't appear to be a convenience store nearby but there is only a very small amount of complimentary water. So you need to start paying mini bar prices for water to brush your teeth as the bathroom water cannot be consumed. I would suggest paying an extra $40 per night and stay somewhere central with easy access to shops and better facilities.
