Awesome couple of days with our guide Andy and Jack as our driver!!

Great Wall, Underground Tomb Day 1, then Tiananmen Square, The Forbidden City, and The Summer Palace on Day 2.

The recommended 0800 start was perfect. We made the Great Wall by 10ish and loved that we could go right past the car park up to the bottom of the chair lift.

Definitely do the chair lift up and take the time to head up the stairs first towards No. 1 tower. We made tower 3 and had very few people before turning back and making it to tower 9 before heading back! The toboggan ride down is made for all ages and a must do. All up the chairlift and toboggan 120RMB round trip.

Included Chinese lunch at the bottom before heading off to the underground tomb before heading back by 1730ish. Honestly, hard to beat the Wall. We agreed if we go back we’d (3 of us) probably just do the Wall and spend more time and spend another couple of hours and pass on the tomb. Don’t get me wrong it was cool, but the spectacle of the Wall is just wow.

Day 2 was surprising as it’s hard to get your head around the size of Square, and in particular The Forbidden City - I’ve been to numerous temples and palaces but the size of the Forbidden City can’t be underestimated.

After lunch, we hit The Summer Palace and only had a couple of hours left in the day. Gorgeous gardens and made it to the dragon boat at the end of the longest corridor (Guinness) before heading across the lake, and yes, The Summer Palace is greater in size than the Forbidden City.

Thanks Andy and Jack for a spectacular couple of days. Highly recommend.

Hi there,

on March 28th we went on a private tour to discover two segments of the Great Wall: Jiankou and Mutianyu. Jiankou is completely unrestored, it therefore was a very original, authentic feeling - especially compared to more crowded sections of the Wall like Badaling.

We started our 11km hike at the bottom of the steep hill at Jiankou and it took us 45 to hike the trail upwards. We then started to walk along this old part of the Wall, which was completely covered by bushes and trees. It was astounding how nature evolved around the ancient structures, making it look like an old fairy tale castle; especially because there were not many tourists taking the same route.

After an 80 minutes walk along this adventurous section we arrived at the recently restored part of Mutianyu, where we continued our trip on a more convenient underground. Nevertheless: This section may be in better shape, but its ups and downs are just as challenging as Jiankou.

The views were beautiful and thousands of flowers and trees just started to bloom, giving us lots of oppportunity for great camera shots.

We eventually decided to continue to tower number 6 and take the toboggan run down the hill, which was lots of fun (remark: It costs 100 Yuan extra per person).

Afterwards we were brought to a restaurant, had some tasty Chinese food and then returned to Tianjin.

Our guide Andy brought us through the day and was the best support you could wish for: kind, helpful, full of knowledge and very experienced after years in the business. Our driver Mr. Gao/Jack was calm and drove us safely from Beijing to the Wall and back. We would like to recommend both of them to anybody who wants to go on a trip in and and around Beijing!

The tour itself is definitely an experience to recommend, especially if you have already seen other (more touristic) corners of the Great Wall. Be ready to hike a bit and don't book it if you don't feel too well as it contains some challenging segments. But if you are looking for a little one day adventure: This is your tour and Andy is your guide!

We were staying in Shanghai and took the opportunity to have a few days in Beijing. Both my husband and I have health issues so needed to be assured a tour would be geared to our needs. Lucy the guide, and Mr Wu the driver, could not have been more considerate. They made sure we saw what we wanted but were not rushed too much. We would thoroughly recommend this company to anyone looking for a private bespoke tour over four days.

We loved our day and a half tour with Andy (our guide) and drivers Leo and Mr Pan. Since this was a private tour it was just us with the guide and driver. We loved how personal it was to have a dedicated guide just for us and the private car was much better than a big group on a bus. Andy was very knowledgeable and friendly and so we got along very well!
Day one took us to Mutianyu Great Wall where we took a chair lift up to hike the wall, returning back on the toboggan.
Day two started with the Temple of Heaven, Tiananmen Square & Forbidden City, lunch at a local restaurant, finishing with the Summer Palace. We would definitely recommend Tour Beijing, as well as Andy, Leo and Mr Pan! Thank you! Xiexie!

My partner and I booked the Great Wall and Ming tombs tour with Christy. It was a whole day tour from 8am to 4pm on 25 March. Christy arrived on time with the driver. She was very friendly and knowledgeable, providing interesting information about the area on the way to the Wall. Upon arriving she helped us pick up tickets for the cable car and toboggan down and accompanied us up the wall, allowing us to experience walking the wall. She provided a lot of detailed history about the wall which I found very interesting. Thereafter we went for local Chinese lunch, the restaurant was okay but a bit too hot inside, the food was good. After lunch we drove for just over an hour to the Ming tombs which, again, was very interesting, Christy provided us with a lot of information and history. She returned us back to the hotel thereafter. Thanks Christy for the lovely tour!
