My husband & I, and another couple spent the night at The Brickyard Inn in April of 2010. It was fantastic. The staff is super accommodating, practically bending over backwards for us any chance we got. The rooms were AMAZING. Spacious, clean & contemporary yet fabulously rustic. Every room has a 2-story window w/ a most incredible view of the mountains and the great wall. There was also a skylight over the shower so it was nice and bright.

We only stayed a night so when we first got there we decided to have dinner at The Schoolhouse (same owners as brickyard) - great western food. They also have a glass blowing shop where they sometimes have demos. After dinner we headed back to the brickyard for drinks in the lodge by the fireplace. Very cozy.

In the morning we hit the wall - spectacular views and not many crowds. By far the best section of the wall I've seen so far. Also, you can take a chairlift or gondola up and a TOBOGGAN down! That's right, a slide down... it was awesome!

We live in Beijing and will most definitely be putting a night on the "tour" whenever we have visitors.

Very peaceful place to escape the city. Great views of the wall and the local village from the room. Rooms are a great design: lots of sunlight, with a very natural feel. Simply and elegantly furnished. Wifi in all the rooms. Cosy bar/cafe and reading area. Slightly on the expensive side, especially the food in the cafe/bar, but good for a treat. Breakfast was a feast with home-made breads and jams and piles of bacon and eggs. Good location for wandering in the village and surrounding countryside.
