This Hostel location is number one, in walking distance to forbidden city and Wangfujing / Donghuamen Market. Very Clean Room, nice hot water in bathroom. The Staff is also very helpful. I Do Recomend this Hostel.

Really - really hard to find. Even if you go with the hostel map, it is still very - very hard to find, cause the hostel is located in a small Hutong, which is connected each other and make you easily got lost. My tips is, try to find Pudu Temple as your sign. The Hostel must make a road signs to help the guest.

Whilst the private rooms I saw looked nice, this place is a complete let down as a backpacker hostel, and as soon as you have any issues they no longer treat you like a customer, you are just a problem to be squashed. I can see the same thing has happened to someone else a little further down recently, so this clearly wasn't a one off! Having booked their 5 bed dorm, they had obviously fully booked, and instead of telling me this or perhaps sorting out their mistake, they showed me to their store room where they had put two bunk beds in to pass it off as a dorm room. I decided to laugh it off and suck it up, thinking im sure there are worse off people in the world and tried to have a nap on the bed after my all night train journey. Impossible. Because it was their store room, staff roamed freely through every few minutes, collecting supplies and then leaving the door wide open when they left. In addition, the "beds" didn't have any mattresses on them, just three blankets on top of each other. When I calmly went to reception to say this was not the room I booked and I wasn't very happy about paying 40RMB (expensive for Chinese hostels) to stay in their store room, the once nice receptionist first ignored me pretending to type on her computer, and then claimed that there was nothing they could do to help and if I didnt like it I should leave. Multiple staff stood around and laughed along with the receptionist as I tried to make myself heard. When I asked to speak to management I was told the boss was sleeping and the manager was with their boyfriend. Funnily enough when she described the boss i realised he had just been in my room collecting stock so I asked to see him, she tutted, relented to calling him and replied "30 minutes". When he came back he couldnt commumicate with me at all, and just shook his head and walked off. This is when I decided to take them up on their offer of leaving as I felt so uncomfortable in the hostel, and booked another hostel down the road. After agreeing to give me a full refund, the receptionist had the cheek to suggest I may have done some damage to the "room" and needed to inspect it before she refunded me. There was nothing in the room to damage!! The final blow came as, having given me a full refund albeit reluctantly in person, they then had the cheek to charge me online through my booking.com reservation, saying to booking.com staff that it was because I had not shown up. Take it from me, if you would like a hassle free stay pay 5RMB extra a night and go and stay at the Three Legged Frog down the road, lovely staff, no dodgy store cupboards and real mattresses!

Had a twin room but it didn't have a real window. Other than this the place was nice. Nice beds, hot water, nice tv and actually got one film with english subtitles (in 3 nights). The hostel is still very expensive (150 yen) but so far in China they all are....

I booked 5bed room and they gave me the workers room, where they rest. The other rooms where nicer but they say that they don't have more space, but I made my reservation by booking a week ago and they didn't tell me anything. I am really piss off with this hostel. It is really disgusting room. Also they do not clean it. The rubbish is in the room for 3 days and I asked them to make it empty and they do not do anything.

We arrived in Beijing after a long haul flight from New York. It wasn’t the best start to our Asia trip as the airline managed to lose our back packs in shanghai during our layover, and the taxi driver was practically asleep on our way to the hostel.

When we arrived we were greeted by friendly staff who spoke English (not all of them do) and shown to our room. The room was simple (nothing much to it) and the showers were shared and smelt of guttering.

Pros:
1. Good location – walking distance from many attraction points; Forbidden City, Tian’anmen Square
2. Restaurant served good breakfast, didn’t really eat lunch/dinner there, but everything was reasonably pirced
3. Some toiletries provided, which helped us given our bags went missing!

Cons:
1. Shared bathroom and smelt of guttering
2. Air con was very noisy and it was really humid so had to leave it on

We stayed here for 3 nights but moved to another hotel with more comfortable amenities! We needed it!
