I travelled around a few cities in China over a couple of weeks and this was the best hostel I stayed at. It was clean, neat (complete with ikea furnishings) and the staff were friendly and useful.

I went on a tour to the Great Wall (Jinshanling) and it was well worth the early start. Perhaps down to the time of year but the sky was really clear and the wall was completely empty besides myself and my one other tour companion.

In terms of nightlife, its fairly near the student area for cheap drinks (Wudaokou) , but also houhai lake is worth going to (walkable in the day time, but probably worth a taxi at night).

The hostel itself is fairly near a metro stop (10-15 mins) and from there you can get to all the main sights within30-40 mins so its pretty well placed.

Overall i thought it was a very decent

Finally a really good hotel. To me, everything was perfect. It is one of those hidden places in a very Chinese neighborhood. It has a nice common area to hang out, it a couple of minutes walk to Tianemen square, the Mausoleum and the forbidden city. I loved strolling around in the Hutong, smelling all those foreign scents, eating at one of those little Chinese places or even going to karaoke.
I don't think you can find a better hotel in Beijing, especially not on this rate.
