We stayed four nights at the Courtyard 7 and couldn't have been happier with the choice. If one is traveling to Beijing (especially for the first time), then a hotel that really "feels" like China is the way to go. And this place is authenticity in spades. Tucked away in one of the old Houtong neighborhoods, you are steps from cute shops, restaurants, and pedestrian activity--and just a few blocks from the Forbidden City and other sites. The hotel itself is in a 300-year old collection of buildings arranged around a courtyard. Very quite and private. The rooms are comfortable and decorated in traditional Chinese style. Heated tile floors were nice in the winter. The bathroom includes a big American-style shower. Free breakfast buffet was well done. The staff is extraordinarily courteous, and they speak English.
