I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Reef hotel. Mealtimes were a joy with an eclectic mix of tasty dishes to choose from. Our room was clean and comfortable with beautiful views of the grounds and the ocean beyond. The grounds complete with pools was a lovely relaxing space. Staff were helpful and friendly at all times. The post dinner entertainment nightly wasn't to be missed. All in all a wonderful stay!

Reef has been a landmark hotel in Mombasa for almost 4 decades. If bliss to you is burying your toes in soft white sand while watching soothing waves lap the Mombasa shoreline; this is a good location as any for tranquil getaways for individuals, couples, friends and family vacationers. The beautiful waterline of the Indian Ocean stretches as far as the eye can see, meeting the baby blue sky on the horizon. A lovely cocktail refreshes your spirit like the breeze in the swaying palm trees. The seasides of Mombasa melt away your every concern and rejuvenate your body, soul and mind.

Well maintained tropical gardens welcome you on the way to the beach front.
My room was overlooking the gardens, was comfortable and if you prefer to get the sea facing rooms, you must book early and specify your needs. Meals and entertainment are well organised; they have a enjoyable swim pool with ocean views where you can swim leisurely or engage in organised water sports. I was delighted to discover a well secluded a night club right on the hotel property called *Moonshine* for late evening dance and music.

I spent just 3 nights here, but I will be back for a longer soothing break to escape from the din of the interior metropolis. If you can, I recommend making the train ride down using from Nairobi to Mombasa on the new Madaraka Express train ride – is it the absolute best way to travel to take in more of this beautiful country of Kenya.

Room Tip: Ask for sea facing rooms for best experience of the coast

Booked a see view room expecting a view of the ocean only to get a view viewed only by binoculars. It was ridiculous when we heard that you only get room service when you are sick and if you are not it’s unspeakable amount of money.

Dear Jackson K

Many thanks for the time taken to submit your review.

We offer two different types of rooms, Garden view or Sea facing. My understanding is that you were in a sea-facing room, unfortunately we cannot offer every single client a sea-view - and we have not promised that in any way, although most of our sea facing rooms do have a view of the sea.

The room service menu prices are comparable to most popular restaurants and I believe that your comments are derived from the fact that you were on an inclusive meal package which is to be enjoyed as a buffet offering in our restaurant. Unfortunately it would be impossible for us to serve every guest the full offering in their room, which no hotel I know of will do.

We trust that you will consider returning to our lovely hotel in the near future.

Asante sana

I stayed at the reef hotel last month before heading to Tsavo West for an overnight safari which the hotel had arranged for us. I really enjoyed my few days there, the hotel is right on the beach which means the view from the pool is amazing. The staff were all very friendly, especially Benson the chef who kindly packed us breakfast as we had to set off at 4.30am!! The room we stayed in was nice and clean and overlooked the gardens. On the first night we had a fantastic meal on a table by the pool under the stars which was a very special way to start our trip. If I am ever lucky enough to return to Mombasa I will be sure to go back
