Mara Bushtops is an excellent luxury camp in a private conservancy outside the main Sekenani gate to the Mara National Park.It has a wonderful restaurant area where you can dine inside, in the verandah or outside in the lawn overlooking a salt lick.It has a large menu with Chef's choice for dinner. It has modern tents with showering facilities inside, outside and in a outside tub with hot water. It has a very likeable and amiable Camp Manager in Lawrence Abura with whom I had many interesting discussions about wildlife in Kenya and stand educated by these discussions. Excellent guides in Daniel Lomoe and Nelson.Daniel Lomoe was very good with detailed explanations about many things, including trees, flowers, migration, animal behaviour all provided in a humorous and confident manner.I liked in particular, the briefing before the safari and the follow up after the safari by Daniel Lomoe. The spotter-Jacobs was brilliant. How he spotted the Cheetah with 2 small cubs is a wonder to me!To my knowledge the only camp which has a spotter with the vehicles. The vehicles were very modern equipped with Gimbo's and LCD Night Vision Screen for night safari, though how much of this equipment was used is another matter.
The negative was the 40 minute drive partly through Sekenani village to get to the main date which lies on the main Nairobi road.Another was the vehicles which all had 3 rows for guests...far too many and unsuitable, except for large groups.I had to share...Mara Bushtops is an excellent luxury camp in a private conservancy outside the main Sekenani gate to the Mara National Park.It has a wonderful restaurant area where you can dine inside, in the verandah or outside in the lawn overlooking a salt lick.It has a large menu with Chef's choice for dinner. It has modern tents with showering facilities inside, outside and in a outside tub with hot water. It has a very likeable and amiable Camp Manager in Lawrence Abura with whom I had many interesting discussions about wildlife in Kenya and stand educated by these discussions.
