Another very successful visit to our favourite Lodge in the Mara. This Lodge is the oldest in the Mara but a superb place to stay as the Lodge grounds are open to the Plains. Different animals come in at night, but done worry there is a man with a torch to guide you back to your rooms! We had requested our favourite room overlooking the Plains and this was granted.Because it was our Golden Wedding Anniversary we were treated like Royalty (as are all guests that stay here)! The Staff here are super, always have time for a chat, nothing is too much trouble. We have stayed in many different rooms at the Lodge over the years and all are very traditionally furnished and good. One of the main attractions is the long walkway out to the Hippo pool. Take a pair of binoculars, order a drink from the Hippo Bar and sit happily and watch the Hippos and also other animals that come to drink there. Thank you to all who made our stay extra special, we will be back!

Our Safari tour operator chose these lodgings for us. I was excited to visit, as my aunt had stayed here on Safari 30 years ago. It’s quite a large property with many different styles of accommodation. Our room was at the end of a row of rooms, outside. We had an adjoining room, which was great as my cousin stayed next door and we could get access without going outside. Our room had a king bed, hers had 3 singles, so you know it was set up for families.
A security guard will escort you to your room after dark.
The food was very tasty. Lots of variety. There were typical African dishes, a few Indian dishes, and other more European types. We loved the fresh pasta stir fry they did to order. Staff was very friendly. The hippo pond was cool to have so close by. We visited the hippo bar, but we were told the beer and wine wasn’t cold, so we didn’t order.
Even though there’s a sign in the shower to wait a few minutes for hot water, it never really came. Sometimes you got lukewarm.
It was nice to have a mosquito net that extended past the bed so you could reach things on your nightstand.
Our room seemed to be situated right near a game path, so we saw zebras, Cape buffalo and antelope from the comfort of our deck.
Warning...the baboons are opportunists. First day there were some on the property. My hubby left the deck door open as we were in the room, and a large male leapt on the railing shortly after he came in. I rushed to close the door, and don’t know if he might have ventured in. There’s good air circulation, plus a fan, so don’t need the door left open.
Power goes off from about 1-4 am.
There’s a nice little gift shop, and once in a while Masai people park on the lawn to sell there wares.
Pool looked nice, but we didn’t visit.
Wi-Fi was okay.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay at Keekorok. The staff were friendly and helpful, the food was great and the hotel was clean. We loved the fact that animals could wonder around the lodges. We saw zebra and could hear hippos from our balcony and there was an elephant at the gate where you enter the hotel. Our Maasai Mara tour guide- Dennis was amazing! We could go out for as much or as little as we wanted, we ended up going out for 11 hours which was great! Only disadvantage was having a cool shower but we could put up with that! Having the hippo pool was great! We would definitely recommend this hotel!

Stayed here for a few nights while on safari in Kenya. Nothing to fault this hotel with. Good food, good prices and great rooms. Everything about this hotel is about comfort for their guests. We loved every minute of our stay here
