This hotel is inside Masai Mara, next to the river. That is very nice, because your safari starts as soon as you leave the hotel. We stayed inside a luxurious tent. I was a little skeptical, but I got very surprised. It was really great tents. We had buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner and it was fine.
The pool was good and nice to have a good pool after safari.
I will recomend this hotel.

The Ashnil Mara camp is right on the Mara river and there were 20-30 hippos and several crocodiles lounging there everyday we were at Ashnil Mara camp. We also had mongoose and antelope walking through or next to the camp on different days.

The room itself was very nice and we were provided with a hot water bottle each night. (No heating in the room that I could see, but it wasn't needed anyway.

The food was very nice, though tended to be a little repetitive, especially if you don't like Indian food (fortunately we do)

The daily game drives from the camp were absolutely fantastic for both the the number and variety of animals seen - and how close we got to most of them.

Room Tip: Our room was quite a walk from the restaurant. Ask for a close room if you need to.

This beautiful camp is set on the Mara River, with hippos, crocs and baboons coming in and out of view. The Masai Mara is hard to put into words. Lions, cheetahs, elephants, zebra, giraffes, rhino, hordes of wildebeast. And afterwards, sitting around the firepit with the stars out, eating the amazing African buffets, getting to know a bit more about the Masai people. Phenomenal!

We arrived at a tiny dirt strip runway in the middle of nowhere and were met by our driver Ezekiel. The other passengers for our vehicle were due in on a later flight so he took us for a rive around whilst we waited & within minutes we were in the middle of wildebeest and zebras as well as coming face to face with a sleeping male lion. This was just the tip of the iceberg for the animals we got to see over the next three days. Cheetahs, Leopards, Lions, Hippos, Warthogs, Elephants, Buffalo .. lots & lots.
Upon arriving at Ashnil we were given our keys and our bags were taken to our tent.
The tent was very plush. Four poster bed, 4 lamps, big shower, toiletries provided. It had a wonderful veranda with a relaxing sofa. On our first day we were visited by a water buck which came straight up to the veranda. Just beautiful.
Something that didn't bother me but others may nit pick about is there is mould marks on the tent canvas in the bathroom area. It is a tent made of canvas & it is obviously going to get damp in the bathroom area so this is to be expected.
We were in room 25. We had a good view of the hippos & crocs and they are very very noisy at night. The hippos laugh so much & we found ourselves giggling along with them!
We had a lovely young man come in every night and put hot water bottles in the bed which stayed hot right through until morning. These were welcomed as we went at the end of September and it was a little chilly early morning and in the evenings. Take a couple of hoodies. These will suffice.
The bar service was great. We charged all the drinks to our room and then paid at the end. A bottled coke is 160 shillings which is about $1.60 or £1.40 , a Jack Daniels is 450 shillings $4.50 US dollars. From the bar you can watch the hippos & relax.
Food was plentiful and delicious. Remember it is a small camp - 45 tents and so they have a huge job preparing food so that everyone gets to eat when they want within the 2 hr windows given for breakfast, lunch and dinner. If it looks like they have run out then ask as they will have more. Our waitress was Cecillia and she was lovely and couldn't do enough for us.
We had safari every morning and evening and our guide was amazing and very knowledgeable. I was also thankful that we were lucky enough to get an open sided vehicle so we were right up close on a few occasions within touching distance of lions and hyenas.
All in all I would 100% recommend Ashnil to anyone who asks and will hopefully have the privilege to return at some stage in the future. This was the first part of a two centre holiday and I sincerely wish we had just stayed at Ashnil for the whole time as it is beautiful, relaxing and the staff are 100% guest orientated.

Room Tip: Ask for a river view room in advance to get the most of the wildlife

It's a wonderful, clean and comfy stay in a tented camp. Foods are enjoyable. Services are great. I especially love enjoying drinks by a campfire after a long safari. I only wish WIFI here worked better.
