“Memories”
Reviewed 27 February 2017

What can I say other than this is a fantastic Hotel. After a noisy and dusty journey from the airport arriving at House of Waine felt like an oasis of calm. The hotel is of a colonial style, and felt like someone's home from that era. My room was large and again colonial in style, opening out into the garden, where one could sit under the shade of a tree or around the pool.
All the staff were both courteous and friendly, also very kind. I was travelling on my own and staying for 2 nights pre a safari and 1 night post safari, this was in celebration of my 80th Birthday. this appeared to be known to House of Waine and the staff presented me with a Birthday cake. On return from my last safari I was welcomed like a friend, to MY room. So thank you House of Waine these memories will last with me for ever.

I stayed three separate nights at the House of Waine and really enjoyed it. The staff couldn't have been more welcoming and pleasant. My room(s) were clean, spacious and comfortable. The grounds are lovely, too. Both breakfast and dinner were well prepared. This is the only hotel in the world that I've stayed in that provides a diffuser with the blow dryer. Extra points for that!

As we couldn't afford Giraffe Manor (at $500 PER PERSON per night), we checked into the House of Waine (only $300 for the two of us). We stayed only one night, but it was a great choice.

Luxury, boutique bread and breakfast with all the bells and whistles. Located in the Karen neighborhood, it was near the places we wanted to see - the elephant orphanage, the Karen Blixen House, the Kazuri beads workshop, and good food. If you're looking for the "real" Nairobi, though, you won't find it in up-scale Karen.

But the bed was huge, crisp sheets, wonderful modern bathroom, nice (free) snacks in the room's bar, and lovely helpful staff. The outdoor grounds are lovely, and there's a small swimming pool, though we didn't try it.

Our stay was brief but, well, quite near perfect.

Lovely property with beautiful grounds and English Colonial feel. set in lovely gardens.
Comfortable bedrooms and lounging areas. Lovely breakfast.
There are no elevators but the property only has two floors.
Great service. I would not hesitate to recommend this place.
