We had a night stop at the House of Waine as we were transiting to the Mara the next day. We had a large suite on the first floor which was very luxurious and well appointed. I loved the woodwork everywhere with sweeping staircases and huge doors. The place has a very colonial feel to it especially when you sit down for breakfast. You are woken up with constant chatter of birds and have nice views when you throw open the windows. The bathroom was very functional and of a good size. Overall a great place to put your head down.

We stayed at the House of Waine after arriving in Nairobi in mid-September, 2016. After 24 hours of being on the plane, we arrived at about 10:30 PM. Amazingly, the very courteous and helpful staff offered to fix us dinner at that hour! We said thanks, but no, and collapsed into the very comfortable beds. Coffee and tea arrived early the next morning, and we went downstairs for the very healthy and excellent breakfast. This part of September is apparently in the gap between the high use summer and fall seasons in Kenya and Tanzania - there were only four other visitors while we were there for two nights. We spent the day roaming Nairobi, and returned to a fantastic dinner provided by Bernard, Robert, and the outstanding kitchen staff. Earlier in the day, my wife had mentioned in passing that our trip was partly covered by her birthday. At dinner's end , Bernard, Robert, and the staff presented her with a delicious cake and fine champagne, and sang happy birthday in the local dialect!! The House of Waine is a wonderful small boutique hotel, with the best staff we have met in a very long time. When we return to Africa in the future, it will certainly be where we stay after the long trip from the US.

Room Tip: All the rooms were very spacious and luxurious - with excellent coffee delivered first thing in the morning.

Thoroughly enjoyed my stay at House of Waine. The attention to detail is impeccable and was a lovely way to finish my travel plans in Kenya. A warm welcome with an oversized suite it was always going to be a place I would never forget.

You feel yourself transported back in time to colonial Africa of a hundred years ago. This beautiful house has been converted to a guest house. Quiet, tranquil and very relaxing. Great service, great food and exceptional rooms. This is the ideal place to relax a couple of days after a long flight or before the long flight home.
I suggest you take the full board option (all meals included). It is a very inexpensive add on and the food is superb.

We have spent a total of 4 nights in House of Waine during our honeymoon. First when we arrived in Nairobi after our flight to Kenia, secondly returning from our 6 day safari trip, and thirdly when we were kicked off our flight to the Seychelles due to vaccination card issues... So we were required to stay 2 more nights in Nairobi before taking off to the Seychelles. But 2 more nights at HoW is not a problem at all. We have seen 3 different rooms, but they are all spacious and comfortable. The last room we had was very spacious and had a private balcony overlooking the beautiful garden and swimming pool (which was a bit cold)

Hotel staff is all very friendly and supportive to accommodate any requests. Even at 5:30 in the morning breakfast (although not extensive) is served. Food is good and reasonably priced, but there is room for improvement.

Location was practical given proximity of both airports and provides a quiet get away from hectic Nairobi

Would definitely come again.
