A wonderful breakfast & afternoon tea with the giraffes

Review of Giraffe Manor
5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 18 Feb 2017via mobile
Arrived at Giraffe Manor just in time for afternoon tea with the giraffes. It was a fantastic experience as the staff set out the guidelines and helped us in feeding the Rothschild giraffes.Dinner can be either with other guests on a large dining table or separate, with both options available. We opted for the dining table. We met an Australian mother & daughter, 2 English ladies,an American couple...The dinner was exquisite, served like in an upper class family home with animated discussion about everything. However,it is the morning breakfast with the giraffes which is the centre piece and the main attraction of the stay at this lovely Manor. The giraffes arrive every morning as breakfast starts at 7:30 am, poke their heads through the windows and join the guests for breakfast...what an experience! The Giraffe Centre is minutes away and any staff will gladly walk you there.Airports pickups & drops are included in the package. As the Manor is small and reception area not large it is encouraged that the check out times be followed...so it is not possible to keep your luggage till the evening flight and therefore a day option has to be explored.

Dear Manju & Ashok, Thank you for your kind review, we are pleased to know you enjoyed your Giraffe Manor experience and thankful that you have shared your impressions here. It is particularly lovely to see how you have captured the feel of the communal dining option, the highlight of which, we hope, is the coming together of cultures and backgrounds in a moment of shared excitement. Thank you both for choosing to stay with us.

Spending a day at Giraffe Manor is the perfect way to start or finish a safari. The entire experience is wonderful. It is located in a safe, quiet area in Nairobi. They picked us up from the airport. They also include breakfast, high tea, dinner and an excursion to one of many nearby attractions if you like. We always like going to the elephant sanctuary. Don't make the mistake of going to the 5pm visit at the ellie sanctuary though or you will miss the 5 pm high tea visit with the giraffes. This place truly is magical!

Room tip: Ask for a room with a balcony facing the front so you can feed the giraffes from your room.

Thank you Greg H! This is high praise indeed from someone who is clearly a safari aficionado! Thank you for making Giraffe Manor your Nairobi hotel of choice, we appreciate your loyalty and, even more so, your enthusiasm for sharing your impressions here. This might be the first time we've had someone claim the giraffe interaction trumps the elephant one too....yay! ;) As long as everyone is enjoying the animals & learning about African wildlife & conservation, it's win-win for all of us. Heartfelt thanks for your lovely review & 'safari njema'. Can't wait to see you for visit #4!

What a place! We stayed here one night at the end of our safari and as amazing as our safari had been, Giraffe Manor is just exceptional!
We had Betty's room so we had the advantage of feeding the giraffes from our balcony before going down to the breakfast room.
You have not lived until you have had one of these gorgeous creatures eating out of your hand or reaching over your shoulder to nibble at the food pellets provided.
Amazing, amazing amazing place!
The memories of our night there will remain with us forever!

That is the most peacefully place I've been to...the fresh air...animals environment. ...now let's talk about the service. ..I felt like a princess in the castle and my dad the king was away ....in short you are pampered in every way. ..the rooms are heaven ..and the greatest this is that you get to be woken up by giraffes ...THIS YOU HAVE TO SEE!!

My mom and I stayed two nights in Giraffe Manor near the beginning of our trip to Kenya. What an experience! The photos you see online are indicative of what you will experience-not just photos take. At the perfect moment. Giraffes are there in the morning for a good morning kiss and treat, pop their heads in throughout breakfast and are the guests of honor at evening tea. The hotel itself was very nice and the staff incredible! We stayed in the Daisy Room, which was a nice room with two twin beds and a wonderful corner balcony on top of the breakfast area so it was very active in the morning with giraffe activity. To top it all off the food was delicious. The chef did a phenomenal job at the vegetarian versions on the meals for me.

My family and I stayed at the Giraffe Manor in Nairobi in December of 2016. Would we stay at the hotel again? Yes. Would we recommend it to friends? YES!!!!!!

This is one of my family’s top travel experience of all time. I can’t believe anyone could give this manor lower than a 5 rating.

While expensive, it is certainly worth it. From high tea with the giraffes to feeding them from your bedroom window. The food was great, as was the service. We never heard the word “No” or the phrase “Sorry we can’t” once during our stay.

Tip: Book early and ask for either the Jock or Betty room. These rooms are in the original manor, are on the second floor, and face the front. These rooms are the best for feeding the giraffes in the morning from your room.

I have uploaded lots of pictures of the manor for you to get a better picture of what it is like.

If you found my review helpful, please let me know that by clicking the Helpful Button. Thanks.

Room tip: Ask for either the Jock or Betty rooms as they are on the second floor and are the best for feeding the giraffes in the morning.

Thank you for your kind review ToonTowner, we are pleased you enjoyed your stay. Please also note that the giraffes also visit the Garden Manor as often as the Main Manor and it is possible to feed them from our Helen, Kelly & Finch Hatton suites as well. Your patronage helps us continue the important work of giraffe conservation in Kenya & we are grateful that you chose to stay with us. Karibu tena!
