This was the last temple on our tour/stay. Alot of it was done by King Ramses II. Amazing sight.

“Luxor is a plesing counterpoint to Karnak”

Smaller, but somewhat better preserved artwork. Luxor is well worth a tour.

“Best seen at night”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 April 2012

Closes at 9 or 10 in the evening. Beautifully lit and atmospheric. Hassled for baksheesh as usual but just ignore them, especially if they invite you see some special bit on the walls. It is just a spurious carving they have decided they will make into a 'special experience' for you and invent some story about. Pay no attention. get a guide, or read the book before you go in, or just walk around and pick up the vibes.
If you are taking photos, take a tripod or bean bag. we were using 10 second exposures.

“impressive”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 April 2012

Although this site is not as large as Karnak temple it is still impressive – it is interesting to see the mosque built on top of the remains – this mosque will not be removed as it is not just a religious building but is also over 100 years old.

Again once the walk through the sphinx avenue, which will be approx 3km long, joining Luxor and Karnak Temples this will be a truly magnificent site that has just got to be on the list to visit for all interested in the beginning of civilization.

“Very impressive”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 April 2012

Although perhaps not as well know as Karnak Temple situated
in walking distance an absolute must. Will be even more impressive when the Avenue of the Sphinxes is completely restored to re-connect Karnak and Luxor Temples.
