Wonderful trip to visit this traditional Nubian home and museum - we loved chatting to the owner and would highly recommend!

With my husband, we stayed at Hajj Mohamad's Airbnb for 3 nights. We had the opportunity to exchange with the nice family and enjoy the quite local atmosphere of this Nubian island. We had a couple of hours with Muhamad in his museum where we had very detailed explanations about Nubians, their life and their history. It's very important to measure these elements when you are in their historical land.
All the family was very caring for us, the breakfast great and the terrace with very nice view.
Definetly worth the visit and the stay.

Wondered around here one hot afternoon. Thought there would be a breeze but there was not so I would recommend visiting in the cool of the morning. Would have been very tranquil and restful if it was not for the inevitable vendors

ANIMALIAAswan, Front Office Manager at Animalia, responded to this reviewResponded 12 March 2018

Dear Susan,

The museum is not a garden, it is inside a Nubian family house, part of it is old Nubian house and the rest is the museum.
May be you were confused with another place on the island.

We stayed with Mohammed at his Airbnb, the Animalia museum is on the first floor. Muhammad and his wife are not only amazing hosts but also very knowledgeable about the culture of Nubia and southern Egypt, they’re open to all kinds of questions and welcome conversation. They’ve done a great job, especially considering they’ve done it all themselves, borne of their own passion.
