Stayed at the Grand Pyramids Hotel (three couples in total) and were somewhat unimpressed with the level of service provided by the staff. The hotel must have had a heyday....but its was a few years ago and management has allowed service levels to drop below what passes as acceptable.
Examples of disappointing service included toilet paper not being replaced in rooms and needing 3 requests to be delivered (same for tissues), ATM machine in foyer being out of service for several days....with no nearby alternative; reception indicating that they had no envelopes (!) - we had asked for one so we could pay our Guide a tip - table service in breakfast dining area very slow and random (plates not removed, cutlery not replaced when you sat at a vacated table); room safe not functioning and when two 'managers came to fix...unsuccessfully...as they departed they said we would have to contact their maintenance department...they didn't do so themselves; toaster not working properly, then disappeared completely from breakfast area; no wifi in rooms....had to go to the foyer of hotel to access (and as it is in Egypt it was filled with choking cigarette smoke.
On the good side, the staff at the entry and on the X-ray machine were very cheerful and the rooms and beds were a good size.More
